If I wanted to put an XT Mech on my Amflow, what would I need to change, axel and hanger wise?

Edit: It currently has the Full Mount mech.

You can keep the axle. First get a UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) for a couple of bucks and then you have to decide if you can live with some fractions of a millimeter of imprecision at the smallest and largest sprockets. Below is a chart which shows the deviation of derailleur positioning if you use shimano derailleurs on SRAM cassettes or vice versa. Basically if you align your shimano derailleur on SRAM cog 6 or 7 you are at max 0.6mm off at the largest or smallest cog. Then you can optimize if you don't use the largest sprockets much.

Why downgrade! it is not a bright idea
Why not? They do not shift worse than SRAM and using the amflow non pro HG freehub with some spacers you have a huge variety of cheaper cassettes with much more room to adjust cassette capacity to your drive style. And if he uses the older sleeker shimano derailleurs it at least improves optics. Those clunky SRAM derailleurs with these dish sized cassettes look f***g ugly.

So paying more money for ugly stuff ...

Sure they do shift worse, and there is no comparison, I own and ride both with electronic suspension
The quality of shimano is poor, and some cassettes shift better than others, I go through about 4 or 5 cassettes in a year after riding about 6000 miles and climbing over 800,000'

Also Sram last longer, Shimano last anywhere from 800 miles to 2000, before chain starts jumping on the small cogs

HG freehub
old antique junk design is your gig? so no more 10t, and I use that cog more than any other.

So you have no idea what you are talking about. Shimano has almost identical sized cassettes as Sram.

The derailleurs are bigger, and they are far more durable in crashes, not as cheap and flimsy as Shimano

My shimano m6100 12 speed just got changed at 3100 miles x 4 chains used, and replaced front ring also,i think thats pretty good for a cassette on my e bike

Damned good. My buddy who rides in eco a lot just got 2700+ on his Shimano with electronic shifting.

Manual shifting reduced my cassettes life dramatically. But I ride very aggressively and climb out of a few steep canyons almost daily.

Been running 7100's and 8100's and i keep my chains spotless and wax every two rides using MSW

Front rings are still in great shape

replaced front ring

The main reason is I much prefer the XT Shifter, and miss the trigger shifting.

I'd probably change hub too, to use a deore cassette

Absolutely love my Di2 Shimano XT Derailleur on my Merida E160 with Shimano EP801 motor. Paired it to a 6100 Deore cassette that I get for $AUD90. Then a 6100 chain that I get for AUD$25.

So chain and cassette can be replaced for AUD$115. Compared to the SRAM T-Type on my Amflow which cost AUD$500 to do the same components.

The SRAM system definitely lasts longer, but it would only be twice as long as the Shimano.

The Hyperglide+ system used on the M6100 cassette and chain, matched to the Di2 XT Derailleur, is the fastest shifting transmission I have ever used. It's just fast and crisp. The SRAM AXS T-Type shifts very nicely, but it is my opinion the Shimano is a little slicker.

I also prefer running a derailleur hanger, as I have already bent the SRAM T-Type derailleur, which is a nightmare to straighten, compared with just using my derailleur hanger straightening tool, or just replace the hanger.

I will persist with the SRAM T-Type on the Amflow. But if I need to replace the derailleur in the future. I will switch to the SRAM GX Eagle AXS derailleur. Fit a hanger. Change my hub to Micro-Spline, and run the Shimano M6100 cassette and chain.

I do lace up my own wheels. So installing a new hub is fairly inexpensive.

I know they are unpopular. But I really have had good results with the Shimano hubs, if you service them before installing. You need to pack the cone bearings and free hub really well with grease. I can get the FHMT510-B 148x12mm Shimano hub for AUD$55. So it's the same price as servicing all the hub and freehub bearings on most hubs.

Im running XT/XTR (new) Di2, its goddamn amazing. Three times faster than SRAM. (They claimed 5 times, but that was a slight exaggeration).
It’s so, so smooth.

I wish they were consistent. Some cassettes are more finicky than others. I always use the 8100 chain and they last as long as the cassette does. And I do like the price over Sram T type. I was getting 900 miles out of cassettes with manual shifting, now with Di2 im getting 1500-2000.

I prefer Sram all day long for shifting under load, and their set up is beefier. I dont like the sram shifter as much as the Shimano, but prefer the wireless aspect. I definitely get less mis shifts when moving quickly with Sram.
