Battery release used to work fine but now, twist the key and the battery springs by a few mm, but not enough to expose the secondary retaining catch as normal.

Tried using a thin metal rule slid up the front of the battery to operate the catch and while I can feel it pushing the catch in the battery still won't release.

Tried pushing the battery in as hard as possible while operating the key with no luck.

Any suggestions?

If you take the forks out can you get to the release mechanism through the head tube?

Solved it.

The rubber lock stop on the down tube is held in place by two screws, which are screwed into the battery lock mechanism.

Remove the two screws and the lock is released and the battery is out.

Found a loose screw in the lock mechanism which was jamming it and preventing release.
