I fancy that 3.1 upgrade that Rockshox just released the £75 kit
but In 3 minds wether to try to fit it myself as a 200hr upgrade
send it off to get done professionally or to sell the charger that’s in my Zeb ultimates and buy the full replacement at £350ish

my thinking is doing it myself but unsure
Anyone done a 200 hr service was was it ok to do and special tools needed as in Rockshox vids they use special vice clamps to shock

thanks

Very interested in this for my Zeb.
When you say 350 pounds full replacement - looking at on line sales that is described as the ‘charger 3.1 damper upgrade kit’.
so what is the 75 pound kit you are referring to? could you add a link?

Apologies. Found item you are talking about. Seems like I’d need a charger 3 damper and then be able to upgrade to 3.1 with the kit. My current damperis charger R so I’d have to buy the complete upgrade in any case.

I was keen on doing the same until I watched the rockshox video. For me, the risk is too high that I'll get air somewhere it's not meant to be when bleeding it, and it'll end up worse than when I started!

Maybe if I treat the Zeb to a 200hr service at a shop, I'll ask that they install the 3.1 upgrade as well.

Shame it's not easier to do, as I think this would play nicely with the TruTune in my 190mm Zeb.

PS just for clarity, this is the upgrade kit, link here:

I think I’ll give it a go watched a full video the other day didn’t seem too difficult
but…….. add in some new tools crowfoot ect and it adds up
i have contacted jtech about upgrading but there waiting on parts

think I might just wait too read some real world reviews on it see if it makes it better

Hi guys,
I have a question you might help to find an answer here hopefully. I have a Zeb A1 2021 with 2.1 damper that needs a service but the cost will be quiet identical to get the 3.1 damper upgrade. This 3.1 upgrade kit come with buttercup on damper side so my question is : Is it mandatory to also upgrade the air piston to the buttercup version or using the old non buttercup ai piston will be fine ?

Thank you,
Seb

No, it's not mandatory. One leg with buttercups is totally fine.

Something else to think about, you have an older style debonair, not the debonair+, which has a bigger negative chamber and some would argue is better AND has the buttercups if you really want to go full buttercup.

Thank you very much for the quick answer.

Been meaning to post this for awhile. I chose the $75 upgrade kit and did the whole retrofit myself a few months ago. There are various videos on how to do this and you will need a vise and 2 claw wrenches and recommended oil and grease. Or you can just buy the full damper.

If any of you have a Zeb on a 3.0 charger, without question, do this upgrade! Especially if you have the long 190mm version. It's laughably better in every way and suddenly opens up the whole fork travel and opens a wider range of differing riding conditions. I'm pretty much angry that Rockshox didn't have this charger design in the first place, as I've been riding my bike with what was basically a drastically detuned fork without this upgrade.

That kit is an upgrade to the OE 3.1 damper too. As annoying as that might be SRAM makes up for it with suspension that is easy to work on at home. I might even say it's fun?!?! Definitely rewarding.

I bought the full upgrade for an excellent price and sold my 3.0 damper for a good price
So it made the upgrade only about £100 but I can’t remember tbh
Either way I’m glad I upgraded to the 3.1 as it certainly feels an improvement
