Thought I would give an update about the Nicolai S16 that I purchased from Rob.

Rob was also very helpful in helping when I had the problems with the battery.
As were Nicolai.

Its had a couple of issues. The 800 battery failed twice. It was replaced with the only issue being the availability of a new battery.
The MGU started making a whistling noise not long after getting the bike from Rob. there wasn't any effect on how the MGU performed at all. Again this was sorted. Nicolai bike arranged for the MGU to be replace, at the same time, the software was updated.
Sine these issues early last year, the bike has been faultless, the gear change is really smooth,. yes there is still the extra delay between 4-5 & 8-9.

I have made some changes to the bike.

Made a motor guard from thermoplastic sheet.
My own rear belt snubber
Upgraded the controller from the standard display to the compact display with separate controller. I also made my own holder for the display that is now mounted inboard, next to the stem.

I found a company Zirbel, that makes a lovely discreet rotary gear selector. This only needs me to brush my thumb or finger against the selector, rather than having to thumb the original selector . just my preference.

And the last upgrade is a set of new wheels from KOM
The rear hub is the new silent Sprag hub with Reserve 30HD carbon rims.

Very nice!! Good idea and execution of the controller also!
You are welcome to join our dedicated S16 MGU owners group. I'm sure others in there will be inspired by your work done to the bike!

Cheers, Ed!
