Picked up my Rise H30 A couple of days ago. I wanted an H15 but all the Swiss ones (200 of them apparently) were stolen from a lorry so impossible to order one and I can’t find one in my size in my Canton (I have to buy in Canton to qualify for ebike grant). However, I upgraded the brakes to 4 pot, got a bigger front disc and a dissector rear tyre and bike shop gave me a discount so I saved quite a lot of money.
I’ll see how I get on with the fork, figuring I can upgrade later, probably to 160 Fox 36 or 38 (I’m used to 180mm front and rear). I bought the extra battery but I’m not sure the best way to use it. My understanding is that when it is connected the bike will use that until empty, then will use main battery. Is this right? It seems the wrong way around. My aim would be to have a light bike and only add the extra battery when the main one has run out. I would carry it in my backpack on rides when I thought I might exhaust the main battery. One of the manuals which may have been for the M series said that both batteries can be charged together but I can‘t see how on mine as there only is one connection on the battery. It seems one has to charge the main battery and extra battery separately which is a bit of a pain. Anyway, I’m looking forward to using it and I’m sure it will feel very different (which was the idea) to my full fat Kenevo. The bike shop said it’s very important to make sure on connect the rubber band which closes the battery/water bottle holder as they had a customer who didn’t and the battery fell out and was damaged beyond repair. I noticed that it was easy to lose it so one of the first things I did was to zip wire it on so it can’t get lost. Connecting my Garmin was not completely straightforward (as warned). I kept getting messages that Orbea was not unlocked, although I had definitely unlocked it and had confirmation. I kept trying and even it connected. It’s quite confusing that other apps just use a tile on a screen whereas the Orbea rise toolbox needs a whole screen to itself which is then divided up into tiles. It seems that this means that one cannot mix and match like with ebike field for Specialized and have say battery level, power and say speed and altitude.
