Review: USA Purchase of DJI Amflow via Ronhack.com

I'll admit, I was rather nervous when I decided to order from Ronhack back in May - there wasn't much info/reviews/validation to be found about this importer (for a lack of a better term as it doesn't appear they have any type of retail presence) I was told the typical fulfillment window was 4-8 weeks, but in reality it was just over 3 months. I was typically the one inquiring with them as to the status, and initially, they apologized and said they would send me a frame bag for my patience. Then as weeks past and I inquired again as to the delays, they offered me a $200 credit to be received after the bike was delivered. I was provided tracking info once it was assigned a cargo ship and a few days after it arrived at Long Beach dock, I was notified by their land carrier and scheduled a delivery date (I'm in Phoenix area). It arrived in 2 boxes - the main box which had a wood frame and another box which contained the wheels (bare)
The bike pretty much needed full assembly - from tires, rotors, cassette, chain, pedals, bar controls, etc. While nothing too significant for most, I did need to buy a cassette lock ring tool to install - but I'd guess most would have the tools or could take to LBD to have them install.
The bike was packed well and there was no visible marks or scratches.

The bike landed on my doorstep days before I moved to a new home (also in Phoenix area) so I quickly assembled just so I could transport, but with the move and unpacking, I haven't had a chance to even charge/turn on/set up or ride yet.

From what I'm seeing the price dealers are selling these, I'm pleased I took the Ronhack route as my initial price was $6400 and I did receive the $200 credit, so $6200 which is more than $1000 less than what my LBD is selling a fully built one.

There is the risk with not getting work done under warranty - the LBD will service them, but at my cost. I don't know if/how Ronhack handles any warranty issues. I've had both Specialized Levo and Trek eXE e-mtb's that both had motor issues, so I do have that concern as has been commented in various posts.

From what I have seen of Ronhack, I have been impressed with the approach to the business. Their website seems to have a quality look and well laid out with easy to find information. Here is what I found on their website about warrany.

Yeah I saw that info but it says the motor is covered for 2 years by manufacturer which would be avinox which is part of DJI right so how would you get it serviced if you needed assistance?
Amflow distributor here in the states would honor warranty?
Believe me I am all about maintainking, or building up my own bikes for that matter, and swapping out a motor, battery, parts is not a concern but getting parts covered is kinda important.
We’ll see how Spec shakes out and go from there.

Yes, the warranty appears to be not as straight forward or part of the traditional dealer network as each dealer would be less compelled to do warranty work as they are paid less than a walk in customer probably.

For myself as long as Amflow is on board with providing the necessary parts and do not require that the bike has to go to a dealer before replacement parts can be sent I would be game as I am self sufficient with repairs. However, living on an island that does not have a dealer and not being able to ship a bike with a battery to a dealer it would be a deal breaker if it had to go to a dealer.

The price competitiveness of Ronhack is definitely something that I appreciate.

I too just received my bike from Ronhack last week. Took exactly two months (8weeks) to arrive, as they stated when I purchased it. Honestly, I cannot say anything bad about the experience except the patience to wait. They responded to all my emails with tracking and answers.

I guess the only worry would be later on when warranty needs to be addressed, if at all. According to Ronhack, they do still offer a warranty. Hopefully I never have to use it.

Just got confirmation from Amflow that bikes purchased from Ronhack will be Geo restricted with future software updates.

Think you are saving money now but how are you going to feel when your will no longer function in the USA?

Would totally suck to be limited to 20 MPH. The motor gets you up there so fast.

Think about it from Amflows point of view, they are trying to launch in a new country while being under sold from direct sales. They are going to do what they can to make it stop.

Imagine how we feel in EU/UK
Understood! Here 20 is like a 6 year old riding a tricycle. We live in the mountains so its you against the trail. on a 30 mile ride you may not see a single person. Everyone i know runs unrestricted and never thinks twice about it. I find the class 3 at 28 mph to be enough to not Un restrict the bike, but I do hit that limiter often. But man that 15 stuff would be terrible.

For USA buyers, they're now in inventory direct from Amflow and get delivered in 5-7 days.

All these manufacturers making high powered bikes are sitting by a big red button. Once it’s all clear, they will uncork these.
When? Who knows…..
They have they technology already in the consumers hands, the consumers are repeatedly asking for something they already own, but can’t access…

While soccer moms are texting and driving 1000hp, 5ton electric suvs all around us….restrict them to 20mph and save real lives.

It’s all a simulation😂😮‍💨

Which makes it legal on US trails.
Out where we live, the only limit is your own safety. You against the trail. And at 20 you would get left behind.

My point is, you are getting what you paid for. Discounted price = discounted speed.

And beats being locked to 16 mph.
Makes me sad thinking about all those poor UK folks.

I literally get 20' down the trail and have to switch it to 28 because im already on the limiter

You make no sense. He specifically stated Amflow now sells direct in the USA. All bikes in the USA are locked to 20mph, everyone knows that. All brands too. Direct from Amflow is not a discounted rate. Youre talking about Ronhack and Loomenade.

Even so, in all three cases you can use a VPN and unlock to 28mph so stop sounding like a baby Karen on the forums, geesh.

He would be a liar if you were correct, but im sure you just did not comprehend what is said or stated.

So listen up, If you buy from an authorized Amflow dealer you can switch between class 1 and class 3 in the menu screen.

If you buy from rh your bike is locked to a class 1 and his warranty only valid through him.

You make no sense.
Intellect required. Dude was whining about people using class 3

They are locking that down. VPNs are getting shut out, and a vpn may only work from an authorized purchase here very quickly. Some are not having success with that.

I too have have just confirmed that my Amflow USA Bike, imported direct from China, that the boost mode shuts off at 20 mph. I wonder if the bike was shipped this way, or is a result of the latest software updte (000.13.---). It originally shipped with a software on version 00.12---. ) I was unable to confirm this original setting, as on my inital ride it felt faster but was noy yet synched and the dispalay was in chinese language and km, (not mph) and set to the wrong 29" wheel setting (I have built mine as a mullet w/ 27.5" rear). Anyone able to confirm if this speed restriction is due to the software update? Personally I am generally fine w/ 20 mph limit , but would like to see a toggle like the Spech Levo 4 to allow speed up to 28 mph for shuttling? I am not fimilar with a VPN workaround.

Maybe I missed something in this thread... is there a reason these Amflows don't have access to the Class 3 setting other Avinox equipped bikes do in the US? Is it because they were purchased through an unauthorized dealer?

I noticed that the Ronhack website shows them priced at $7500 now for the silver bike. I wonder if that means they will have the 28mph option now for U.S.

No, they will not go 28. Any bike imported will be stuck at 20. Even VPNs will not work with future updates.

They also do not have US warranty support

well then it looks like their U.S. sales will def. be slowing down now that price is the same:p

So purchasing from an authorized dealer will still get you the 28mph limit correct?
With the current updates no issues correct?
