Do any of you have experience in international moving with an e-bike? Do cargo ships allow the transport of batteries of 600 Wh and up in a container together with furniture and personal belongings?

They must do or they would never get into the UK in the first place. But they may need a specialist carrier.

That's right... however, it is different to send a new battery as part of a commercial shipment and in the original packaging, rather than in a shipping container with many other things.

Delving into things online, I read that it would actually have to be shipped separately and that you have to show some certifications, and follow some guidelines for the package (covering the contacts, etc.)

I would be curious to know if someone ever tried...

Taken mine across to Spain & France by ferry from UK numerous times without any issues - but then again, it was inside a campervan & no one asked.

sure. In a van is different.
Why ..........?

The risk is absolutely the same as when a bike is wheeled on in person. The truth is, if you book a ticket as a 'pedestrian' cyclist, the question about electric bikes is not asked - at least not on the ferries I've used.

when you load something in a shipping container, as part of a removal, it is part of a list that is delivered to custom and to the company when loaded on a ship. As an example, they have the right (I have relocated 7 times from continent to continent) to forbid you from loading simple detergents, food or soil.

My question is if a large battery may create a similar problem, as it would be the very first time I move with an e-bike in the container.
