You know what a pointless stat is to me? E-bike Strava KOM’s.
I think they are absolute bullshit unless every individual is on the same exact motor.
Fight me.
Somebody lost their KOMs to an Avinox bike huh?

lol just joking! Strava is fun though. There’s still dh segments where everybody on e-bike is evened out.

I have an Avinox, and most ebike KOM’s locally. And more than a few dh acoustic KOM’s.
It’s freakin’ dumb. I have been on rides with semi-pros on Levos and Giants, and I walk away from them, it sure ain’t skill or fitness!

Down koms are where its at. Motor power or unlimited motors have limited to no advantage....

so you must be doing the less demanding rights with the 400? or your motor suddenly is more energy efficient when using the smaller battery?

The 400wh rides are shorter and or in using the bike more like a mid power bike running mostly in 70nm tour+ for those rides.

6+ years ago I could almost crush any segment with a KOM. After a few rides I stopped doing that. Strava had not yet made a category for EMTBS.

I followed a few of the stats available from my Kiox and Strava. After a month or so I stopped doing that also. The important thing for me became where I was,(gps), and what time is lunch 🥪.

Some others follow all the stats available and that’s fine. My needs are slightly different. Find Friends and Becon are always active.

Maybe some day I’ll be interested in HR, elevation, cardio, calories, stress, etc. but not now. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I did the maths on 673 operating hours in 10 months and that works out to 15 hours a week. That is not correct. I would be lucky to make half that. Maybe, its also including charge time?

I'd agree with uphill or rolling terrain portions, but around here most ebike strava stuff is downhill, and over the speed cutoff. Motors are irrelevant mostly, even if you had one that was deregulated with no cutoff.

Yeah, I was definitely referring to uphills. Super steep downhills here are faster on regular bikes, generally, unless there is a couple punchy uphill sections or what have you.

To a point, but human power and skill matters a lot on some terrain.

Not disagreeing with that, but equally skilled riders, with one on a way more powerful motor, will not have a level playing field.

Ha. I’ve been there. My first eMTB race was the wake up call.

IMHO, KOMs, PR, and Strava more generally, can be useful for some of us as a source of self-motivation. It’s a bit like when your trainer tells you, “You’re doing great, excellent job, bravo!” . Deep down you know you’re slow, no longer young, and far from technically brilliant. Yet somehow, it still works and gives your self-esteem a small but welcome boost.

We’re not robots like Greg, we’re more like big kids inside. In fact, our e-mtb are nothing more than a big, expensive toy, aren't they?
