With end of year sales going on, I just bought a new Specialized Turbo Levo S-Works. I will start by saying that I love the bike and do not regret the purchase. I bought the bike at night and the next day when I had a chance to see it in daylight, I could see imperfections everywhere in the gold paint job, under the clear coat. It looks like they forgot to put the primer base coat or only used one layer of Gold and several layers of clear. Is this a normal thing for these carbon fiber frames or should I take it up with the dealer?

@Jim-FL, based on your description, I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to your dealer/LBS. Do you have any pics of the imperfections?

I can see the carbon fibrey bits under the paint on my spesh. Normal i though.

Depends on the color scheme.

There is a trend with some brands that the paint is allowing you to see the carbon fiber, regardless of the color (could be black/raw, red etc). It is a style effect more than a defect.

Now if this is not a "feature" it is definitely a poor paint job as you should never see it if it was not on purpose no matter what people would say to you.

Best bet is if you’re not happy with it take it back.

That doesn’t look anything different from what I’ve seen from these style of paint jobs. Specialized and Santa Cruz.
