I have heard that padded shorts cannot have fly because it would interfere with the support that chamy liners provide. I'm 77 and find it a bit of a nuisance so I'm considering replacing the chamy with some incontinence pants :) Seriously though is it not possible to have a fly?

The bike shorts I wear are made by a local company and I run into the owner of the company regularly on the trails. I have suggested a "trap door" like men's brief underwear multiple times. He's never said it was impossible but they still don't have one.

Endura Humvee have a fly on the main short outer if that helps, the liner isn't too tight to be an issue.

Zoic makes a liner short with a horizontal fly. For me, it doesn't really provide much benefit over the traditional method.

Im riding with the Zoic Ventor liner and yes, it has the horizontal fly. Personally I find it a bonus and definitely prefer it over regular no-fly liners. I frequently ride with a hip pack so this may impact my preference.
