Other More Practical Ways To Bleed Air From Shimano Brakes

It is. Kinda. Off the top of my head you push fluid from the caliper to the lever, flick the lever a bunch of times in different orientations, let a bit of fluid back through to the caliper and job done. Been a while thou.

I’ve never used brake blocks, just done it with the pads in.

I certainly don’t remember needing to touch both ends of bike at the same time.

Only thing to be careful of is making sure the pipe doesn’t pop off the bleed nipple and spray brake fluid all over the pads and disc. Once the pads are covered in fluid, they’ll never come back. Discs can be cleaned with IPA.

India Pale Ale tends to leave a sticky residue on discs, it's more expensive but a good gin works much better.
