For me, the power of the current Bosch is more than enough, I just hope they implement connectivity with Garmin as they did in the latest Bosch update
Whaaaaaat there's Garmin connectivity? Can it log human power output? That's like the one thing I wish my Bosch had. How did I not come across this yet...

EDIT: ah ok, newer Edge units only at the moment. I use my watch to track because it's one less thing to faff with. Hopefully it gets added later...

Be awesome if we didn't have to have another thread about motor output though to be honest... :)

@Fugu garmin XX40 and xx50 and some garmin watches... (epix, 7 and 8 series)
i don't know if Avinox has a garmin output. would be great.

But that I can configure myself in the App
Perhaps they want to appear to be complying with future regulations, leaving it to the consumer to remove the power limit at their own risk, so they can't claim to be in violation of anything... although they could later refuse to honor any warranty if that happens, which would seem a bit absurd if all this were true.

I don't think they're going to offer the option of choosing between a restricted or unrestricted motor.

I think everything points to the new Orbea Wild having an Avinox M2S "RS" motor configured by Orbea with a maximum power of 750W and a maximum torque of 150Nm, directly compliant with UCI regulations and any future European regulations. I expect good power delivery and reduced consumption due to that power limitation.

After having tested the EP8-RS motor configured by Orbea on my father's Orbea Rise, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and proceed with my Wild M-Team order, hoping these two months fly by so I can finally ride it.

If that's true, then it would be a total fail from Orbea. One of the biggest selling points of the Avinox system is its power and flexibility. Limiting it to 750W would make very little sense, especially considering the competition.

I wouldn't buy it. The motor would be very strong on low cadence but die when you start spinning.

I wouldn't buy it either. I've already placed an order for the new model, but at the time pre-orders opened, there was no mention whatsoever of any power limitation. If it turns out to be true, I'll cancel my order.

I would also do so. For me I can say that I won' t order one with this regulations.

Only if I can choose between stock (DJI) and Orbea software they'll get my money.

I just spoke to someone who has a bit more official information and he assured me that there won't be any power restrictions. 🤞
My dealer was the first thing he told me after going to an Orbea Italia event where the new Wild was on display on May 21. Maximum power is 750W, except in Boost mode.
I think it's a fairly reliable and official source. I've already ordered mine (a black M20 29" with an 800W battery) and should receive it by launch

Let's hope your dealer got that part wrong. 😅

That is only a Orbea thing!
What do you mean by that?

I think it could be that Europe gets 750W and Rest of the World Full Power.
As there are probably coming some regulations in Europe anyway... but this is all just speculation. Let's wait till we see their final presentation.

That only Orbea make a decision to reduce/ limitation the power to 750watt.

I don’t want to see a neutered Avinox, but if I’m honest with myself, I must admit that I’d find it entertaining to watch everyone’s head explode. This gray cloud could even have a silver lining. Such a stupid action could show the industry how repulsed consumers are by artificial power limits. 🤔

As I mentioned some pages back, Orbea should just have a screen you can go to that states and you have to agree to that you are bypassing Class 1 legality and it's not legal to operate on any non motorized public trail system in this mode. It should probably also have a red outline on the screen so it's easily viewable by authorities.
Just make it a simple series of like 3 steps you have to go through anytime you start the bike. Most of us leave our bike running the whole day anyways.
Although I agree ultimately with bike manufacturers limiting their bikes to Class 1 since that's what they're presenting them as, it would be terrible for sales, let's face it. Many people want Class 2+.
I think that is a simple way to try and cover their (Orbea's) asses a bit.
On the other hand then they're acknowledging they're selling a non-class 1 bike and that could also get them in trouble but then ignorance of the law has never been an excuse.
Here's the question for you guys: if the Avinox motor was limited to Class 1 (unlikely imo) would you still prefer it over the Bosch and why?
I mean it's not lighter once you add chain ring protection to the Avinox. It's not more reliable, it's not quieter. It's probably more tractable. The 800wh Avinox battery looks better but handles worse.

I've only seen one Amflow/avinox bike in person so far. So it's tough to form a solid opinion. The packaging looks better, the app seems more adjustable. A lot of it though has to do with what bikes fit my needs. And it's a pretty short list in the states. Bosch or Avinox powered. I just so happen to want a new bike this year and the M2S just came out so makes sense to go with the latest tech. Resale will probably be better but that's hard to say at this point. I think i'm going to be on the 3 year bike plan with the way Ebike tech is moving.

I currently ride a 2025 Orbea Wild, so buying a new Wild with an Avinox motor restricted to 750W would be a complete waste of money for me.
I mean, would the motor really be a reason to upgrade though? Sure the extra power would be nice here and there but there isn't increased battery capacity to drive it much of the time. If it was literally the same bike but with an Avinox instead that would seem like a nuts reason to upgrade... for me anyway. I'd be more interested in what else is changing about the important bit - the frame.

Each to their own, and maybe you've got a lot more cash to burn :) in which case hey the more the merrier...

A big cost of your emtb is the motor and it can make a huge difference in your riding. Avinox is lighter and traction control imo is better. It also has smooth shift, a new feature that lowers power when you shift, and tons of other features that help save the drivechain. Has navigation now (although heard it’s not great yet). Of course I’d ride one yourself and come to your own conclusions on if it’s worth it which may be a no. After owning Bosch, brose, avinox I think it’s totally worth it if you got the $$. Not worth going into debt over though!
