Orbea x Avinox Rumours

Orbea Enduro with Avinox
Information circulating among distributors and forums suggests that Orbea may be developing a long-travel e-enduro bike conceptually based on the Rallon platform, but specifically designed for the DJI Avinox system. The most consistent rumors describe the following setup:Travel: 180 mm front / 170 mm rearWheel configuration: mullet (29" front, 27.5" rear)Segment: electric super-enduroMotor: Avinox (~120–130 Nm, ~800–1000 W peak)Expected battery: around 800 Wh, with a possible larger version (~936 Wh)The bike would be more focused on downhill and aggressive terrain than the current Wild, taking advantage of the Avinox’s high torque to allow a more sensitive suspension setup (lower anti-squat) without significantly compromising pedaling efficiency.Another mentioned feature is the possibility of two configurations (“two maps”), likely via a mechanical flip-chip system, enabling geometry and/or travel adjustments to switch between a more race-oriented enduro mode and a slightly more pedal-friendly one.If confirmed, Orbea’s lineup would roughly be structured as follows:Rise: lightweight e-MTBWild: versatile e-enduroNew Avinox-based Rallon-type platform: high-performance super-enduroFor now, there is no official confirmation or public images, so this should be considered an analysis based on consistent rumors and technical coherence within the 2026 e-MTB market.

Do you work for Orbea by chance?

I ordered the M20 mullet and paid the extra to get the CXR motor, Kiox Display & saved money going down to the 600w battery. I don't care about the other parts and I'll use them all to rebuild my Relay to sell it off. As far as sh*t parts, no one has anything good to say about the Shimano drivetrain on an e-bike application. The option for a hardwired Transmission X01 would have been an upgrade that I would have made. I don't use trail tires, Al wheels, Al bars, cheaper suspension components, etc. I'm not above it; I just don't have to any longer!

I just wanted the cheapest CF frame with a Bosch CRX, 600wh battery, great geo, great dropper insertion, etc. The Wild is consistently a best-in-class bike but I wonder if the headset cable routing might have hurt sales along with the Avinox stealing some thunder as well.

I have front and rear Avalanche coil suspension that will be installed, Dominion brakes, Oneup dropper, my own bars/ grips/ seat, brand new Crankbrothers cf MX DH wheels with DH tires installed and out of cheapness I'm just going to install a nearly new SRAM X01 11 speed that I have on the shelf.

It would be nice if it comes in under 50#s but with those tires/ wheels/ coil suspension that's going to be a stretch. I mean I already installed tires on the wheels, and they were like 1450 grams each!

Honestly, I'm just thrilled to have completed the tedious task of trying to choose a new e-bike. The more I learn about bikes, the harder it becomes! I find that most bike designers seem to have become quite boring and unimaginative in their approaches. In the case of Orbea, the product is real good which is why I choose it. But you should be able to select a frame, select its material, color, motor, all from a drop-down menu and see the price for each item. You should be able to select to buy just that frameset alone or continue to add components with prices all listed. Choose your shock, your fork, your wheels, etc... Manufacturers say they can't make money selling a frame only, then Crestline sells out 300 in a day at $7.3K USA each. I'd say in fact you could make money selling frame only options if you offered the right product.

Of course, I wanted to wait and see the new Avinox M2, I wanted to see the new E-Dreadnaught, etc. But at some point, you just have to go all in as this waiting game can go on forever.
Re: headset cable routing.

The headset routing is the one thing that’s holding me back from buying.

What is a shame is really the big and bulkey kind of triangle from bottle to seat post tube/motor. You fill the little triangle on it is close to have the silhouette of a motorbike.

Alongside internal cable routing this was, still is a deal breaker.

I hear ya.

I purchased two things that I swore I'd never buy to mostly overcome the headset cable routing, at least not until they were both hardwired in to the main battery, electronic shifting and an electronic dropper. As a result, I'll only have the rear brake cable entering the headset, which honestly will look quite nice.

Surprisingly, I don't know think that HCR will go away. The reality is that Orbea already has a hard wired in dropper post on the Rise (only works with Shimano) and the DJI motors already hard wire in to Transmission. Why add the weight, cost and worse looks of having frame cable routing when the future has arrived? On the current gen Wild, yah, I think they were too early with the HCR. But the next gen product, I think it's actually the obvious way forward.

I have no doubt that the new Avinox Wild will look super sleek and I'll feel a tinge of regret in the moment, but it's fine. I'm ready to start riding a new bike now, not in August or later at thousands more. Also I bought it at a price that I can sell it in 2 years and only loose a couple of grand, that's cheaper per month than a lame gym membership.

That's an intentional design choice, those dual struts that tie the BB area to the downtube, that adds needed stability and strength to that area and improves performance. I would not expect that to go away.

Hum, that's cool. I didn't know they were now doing the wireless dropper hardwired to the TQ motor. I'm sure they will sell dozens in that application.

That's just an odd bike that does nothing for me. Now the TQ60 is pretty amazing.

Poster Az2Au over on MTBR put in an order for one. Stay tuned for his review.

if that is all that you get out of this i feel sorry for you

I think we’re going to see an updated rise before the wild. Maybe I’m wrong but I’ve heard several journalists mention riding a new rise recently. It would be great to keep the Bosch wild and also an Avinox variant. Then the rise will use the tq hpr60

Some info was shared with me that may or may not be true.

Basically, that the new Orbea Avinox will be their 'Super-enduro' bike positioned above the Wild. Dedicated mullet, 180/ 170 travel. Two battery choices, an 800 and a 932wh (or thereabouts). Low Anti-squat. Just guessing at this part but it's probably slacker than the Wild's 63.5' HTA.

Should be a cool unit.

My riding is firmly in the 'All-Mountain' category and as such, I'm still very content with the purchase of my Bosch Wild as it feels right sized for the majority of my terrain. Unfortunately, I blew out my knee and depending on the MRI results, might not be riding all summer long.

I’m hoping for a new Rise with HPR60. Having integrated electronic dropper and shifters with the TQ system and 580wh battery would have me ordering day 1.

Any new rumors about DJI and Orbea? 🫣
Really confused that they teased the bike on insta a few days ago with the avinox reveal date, then nothing on D-day. I imagine we get all the news between now and the 16th when sea otter starts.

That's a real bummer! I know you've been waiting a long time to finally receive your dream bike, so I hope the MRI turns out positive and you're back on the trails shortly to enjoy it. 🤞

I just have lots of high-end components on the shelf that I already prefer, that have essentially no resale value.

If I did not already have these components, I would have ordered the LTD. But instead, I got to save about $3K.

Really, it's all but a perfect bike to my eyes and seems like it's not getting the attention it deserves, possibly due to the headset cable routing.

Regarding the Avinox, I'm just not convinced, but it's certainly getting all of the attention. For sure it's more powerful, but that doesn't matter to me at all. What does matter to me is: 1) stretching the range of the lighter 600w battery as far as possible (upgrade to the CRX motor to increase this even further, the ceramic bearings are more efficient.), 2) chain ring protection, 3) reliability (the Gen5s just don't break I'm told), 4) many years of available parts and service, even while traveling, 5) guaranteed silence.

I don't know what the M2 Avinox will offer, but if it's just more power, than I 100% made the right decision. But if they claim guaranteed near silence, 10% more efficient, I'd consider it equal to the Bosch but without the long-term support and reliability. If they also offer the more energy dense battery that is coming, well I'd probably lean towards the Avinox. Too late now!
My gen 5 is in the process of breaking at 800 miles.

Can you link to the post? I find the opposite. They did post on the 8th about the Wild on Insta but it has a Bosch.

I would very seriously consider a Avinox powered Wild, but I’m not optimistic we’ll see one this year.

My dealer told me August delivery for an Avinox Wild, about 3 months ago.
One of the reasons I didn't wait.

Did you get any information on it being 180 front/170mm rear travel?
Yes.
I was told that it's more a super enduro bike than the kind of all mountain bike the current Wild is.
180/ 170, Avinox, lower AS, 930wh battery.
I suspect that battery is the reason it is not been announced yet. Because Avinox has not announced that battery yet.
I don't know if it's a Wild replacement, or above the Wild. Wild RS maybe?
