Greetings! Just registered and was wondering if other people are having difficulties purchasing e-bikes?
I've had a Trek Rail 9.7 is a small frame on order since March of this year. As I'm sure everyone has experienced, my delivery date has been continuously pushed back. My currently delivery date is November of 2022, seems like in a random color, hopefully still in a small size. LBS has been great with updates. Called Trek directly and they confirmed the new delivery date, 21 months so far as still waiting. Atypical?

Industry wide there are big delays, one thing I would check with Trek though is what model to expect - given a new updated rail has just been launched.

And separately if you are not wedded to getting a trek you can probably get something else sooner

Thanks for the quick response!
I knew there were shortages but had no idea that the wait could be two years.
I live on Hawaii, want to stick with larger name brands for servicing issues. Looked at both the Rail and Turbo Levo, liked the updated geometry on the Rail better. But can't even preorder a Levo at this point.
Guess I 'll just have to be patient.

Guessing your location isn’t helping out on the delivery front! Must be some pretty spectacular trails there though

When I ordered my first emtb, back in the good old pre-pandemic time of November 2018, I was given a date of Jun'19!!! I thought that was really bad, but the Focus Jam2 was the bike I wanted. Then I had second thoughts and upgraded from an alloy frame to a carbon fibre frame and I got in early Jan'19. Apparently, it was all to do with the build program. Ask about the detail spec.

I think the future will be; “Build-a-Bike”.

Order the frame you want which comes with a motor and battery. Then put the stuff on that you want.
I have a Rail 9.7 2020 that I got in the fall of 2019. The only original items on my bike are the frame, motor and battery. Practically everything else has been upgraded, replaced or specific to my needs.
I suppose if it’s my first bike I might want a complete package but even that could be customizable through your LBS. If you can’t have Shimano type brakes then install the Magura. If the new Ergon seat works for you…put it on. Almost every bike I see is a piece-meal of manufacturing depending on price or preference. That would be my LBS.

My LBS has a Trek Powerfly on order for me, since September 2020. They're thinking 2023 for delivery at the moment.

Unless there are powerful reasons to use that LBS, I would go elsewhere. Even in the pandemic, that is taking the mick.
