Hi, I am here to share my experience riding Bosch eBike with ABS Tuning Sensor Rings that I made for myself. They Remove Speed Limit and add 40% speed. It is just a relief not having a motor switching off at 25km/h. If there is a need, I can hook you up, just message me.

Not in the UK, derestricting a bicycle is illegal and if you have an accident you will be heavily penalised if your bike has been modified whether on or off road.

Yes, it is in most countries illegal, but only on public roads.
You can legally ride on private land or off-road where traffic laws don’t apply.
And there's very little private land in the UK as that's the only place your allowed to legally ride one here.
Even trial centers are public and bike parks all that i know of are against tampering of Assist level .

In short, while it may be technically easy to "de-restrict" an e-bike, it makes the vehicle illegal for use on UK public roads under standard EAPC rules. These types of higher-powered bikes can only be legally used on private land with the landowner's permission.

In that case, sorry hearing that, and that means this original post is for users from another countries.

I don't want to modify my bike, but I'm always interested in mechanical and electrical contraptions. What did you make? Got any pictures?

I can't figure out how to send a private message in this system, but I'm curious to know more about what you have and to make sure it's compatible with the latest generation.

I always thought the peddle assist levels were kinda low outside of the North American market. I’ve hit wall, dropped the anchor, lost assist, at speeds exceeding the legal limit, or the speed limit set by the manufacturer, a few times.

32kph is the limit (20mph?

) and that has never happened on a trail, only on my short pavement ride to the trails. I only suspect(in my area) that two EMTB’s were fitted with a speed bypass device. One was DOA at the trail entrance, and the other flew past me on a fire road. (Caught up to him shortly after).

There are some local Bike Shop’s who won’t, or can’t, update a modified peddle assist. It could also void your warranty. De-restricting doesn’t seem to be a thing here. It’s not necessary, imo, because the peddle assist level is reasonable.

I think that the lower assist limit drives the de-restricting market for e-bikes or EMTB’s. I would be tempted to modify my ebike or EMTB if I was outside the NA market.
