Hi. I'm new here. Love the forum. I've been researching an e-bike for a few weeks now and have found not only the forum, but Rob's YouTube videos to be superb too (I've subscribed). I'm in the Surrey Hills so lucky enough to have the most amazing rides right on my doorstep. Been riding a Trek Fuel EX7 for a few years now and have decided to move on to an e-bike.
I'm been eagerly awaiting the new Shimano EP8 motor. I always felt the new Bosch motor had the edge over the Shimano motor. However, given the reviews of the EP8 it now opens up more bikes to consider as manufacturers start to use it in their bikes. Could be an interesting time ahead with so many good/updated motors now available.
Also excited to see YT have opened up their UK HQ just down the road from me too. The Decoy is now looking like a good option if they fit the EP8 and now have UK based customer service too. I went along yesterday and had a chat with Felix. Very nice guy, and very helpful indeed. After chatting with him it sounds like YT are committed to sorting the poor reputation they have for customer service by launching the UK Mill. They have a full workshop setup and spares etc for all bikes on the basis they want to avoid sending bikes to Germany. Trying a Decoy next week, but no news on when / if they are adding the EP8 to the current Decoy bikes.
Anyway, that's all for now. Looking forward to learning more here on the forum.
