Does anyone have any inside info or educated guesses on when a new Yeti full fat ebike will be released, in particular with which motor?
I love Yeti kinematics, EP8 not so much.

I’ve been wondering this as well. DJI would be a dream but can’t see that happening, the logical option for them would be Bosch Gen5, but I hate how fat the downtubes are to fit those batteries.
 
Hoping the new Mahle. Trying to find an excuse not to buy an EP801 C2 at 35% off.
 
I was chatting with my mate about this yesterday, he’s a gold level Yeti dealer. He was saying that he’s not heard anything about an updated 160e yet, he did say that Yeti is flat broke so that might be why there’s no news.
 
Good info, thanks. Hopefully my new SB160 is enough to boost their balance sheet!

The new Yeti ebike isn’t exactly the safest choice in the world if they need cashflow. A 160e with a DJI would be flying out the door.
 
I really don't understand Yeti's thinking behind their new offering, I've had my160e for 3 years and as good as it is it would really benefit from a slight increase in power and more range, for Yeti to pivot 180° and move in the opposite direction is bewildering to say the least, if they don't update their flagship 160e soon then it really could be the beginning of the end as they seem to have ignored people's desire for more power, from a race bred company that's puzzling.

Is this why Yeti came out with a $14K USD MTe bike?

We are several years into high end MTB's and post-pandemic and the prices are still ridiculous. Is their goal to keep these bikes only with the 1% crowd that can afford them?

I guess Yeti has always been a premium brand, even with their mechanical bikes, but anything over $10K for a MTB is nuts. I'll keep my KSL around and that won't help sell bikes! I'm 4 years into my KSL and almost the same with my SB 130LR which is all I've rode this summer. Haven't touched my e-Bike.

Same price as the new S-Works, not that it makes it any better. Prices are completely out of control, $10K seemed like a big number and then we just slid right past it adding thousands more on to start hitting $14k for a few of these brands, truly crazy.

I anticipated, post-pandemic that prices would have come back to reality, but I guess with a good economy that has people still spending endlessly, it might be part of the reason they've all elected to keep prices at those levels. But the bike business is also fickle and mostly seasonal. They make have too all start seriously taking a longer look at how they price their bikes as I have really no reason to get a new bike at the moment.

They charge it because they can get away with it unfortunately, there’s just no reason these components need to cost as much as they do. You can buy an entire motorcycle with much more rugged and complicated components for the same as one of these little bikes. The fact that an MTB tire costs almost $100, the same as entire small car tire, is laughable as well. Having all the major components (Drivetrain, suspension, brakes, wheels) all come from different manufacturers each getting their own profit margins along the way definitely adds to it. If each bike manufacturer sourced the majority of this stuff in-house overall bike prices could theoretically be a lot lower than they are today, but that’s just not how this industry works.

I’m guessing Yeti is hoping it will get them out of the red and back into the green🤔 all I know is my buddy isn’t really happy with the pricing or Yeti in general, he was saying this will more than likely be his last year as a Yeti dealer which is crazy considering he’s good friends with the owners. He worked at Yeti HQ for years before leaving to start his own shop and Yeti was the main brand he opened his shop with.

I think it's a valid comment about trying to get them back into green territory, but I'm not sure this pricing strategy is the golden ticket Yeti makes some great bikes, but they won't be able to keep me much longer as I'm an aging demographic and funds will be a big concern. The average consumer thinks that $6K is over the top for a bike, not to mention $10K+. I can get a new dirt bike cheaper. That's not a good sign.

Yes and let's be even more transparent.

Most bike makers develop frames. Virtually everything else is 3rd party bolt ons. They have zero control of their costs. But the cost of trying to get into the world of components isn't easy unfortunately, so this trend will continue. The component companies can continue to advance their products and also raise prices - and get away with it, but at the expense of higher bike prices. It's frankly not a good situation for anyone, but once unemployment starts rising again, there will be some corrections, but will it be enough? I doubt it. It'll just mean guys like will be keeping their current bikes around longer.

Seems like it would most likely be a Bosch based bike? DJI would be a nice surprise, but I would be very surprised by that.

It’s definitely Bosch based, it essentially looks exactly the same with a few minor changes. The only real question is did they go with the 600 or 800 battery, judging by the down tube size I’d say they went with the 800.

Something tells me this may be under-whelming, but let's see. Maybe something similar to the MTe with different interchangeable battery options. If their MTe is $14K USD, I wonder how they will price this new 160E.

On side note: Anyone here have a significant amount of time on the 160E? I test drove one a few years ago in a parking lot, and like my SB 130, I immediately liked the ride height feel up front - far more than my Kenevo SL. I've always considered jumping on the Yeti e-Bike bandwagon, even if there's isn't a dedicated forum here for it. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

"I’d say they went with the 800." They must be targeting the big cheater crowd that doesn't mind heavy bikes. ;)

I had one for about 6 months, loved it. I’ve always said if they ditched Shimano I’d buy another one. I’ve only seen a “spy” shot photo of the new one so couldn’t really tell too much about it. I’ve messaged my buddy in the US to see what info I can get out of him on it.

Yep, I’m a huge Yeti fan too. I got rid of it because of the motor rattle. I have misophonia, I’d get really annoyed riding it because I’d focus more on the motor rattle than actually riding the bike. It’s not something I can control so for my sanity I sold it. The bike still has the best suspension feel of pretty much every bike I’ve ridden though.

I bought one at close to 50% off a couple months ago. The bike itself is amazing - there’s definitely some magic in Yeti’s suspension, which is why I bought the bike, as I’m not a bike fan of the Amflow (my other ebike) suspension platform.

The EP801 motor was more underwhelming than I expected, the bike itself better than expected (after over-forking to slacken the HA). If they released a new model with the DJI, they’d sell thousands of them. It’d be the perfect bike IMO.

It’s definitely got the gen 5 Bosch on it, I messaged my mate about it last night. He said that Yeti hasn’t really been keeping him in the loop with bikes as much anymore, they didn’t even tell him the new bike was coming until July when normally they’d give him a test bike a few months before release.

He’s been a gold level Yeti dealer for years but he’s recently started slowing down on them. He sponsors a youth enduro/DH team and they’re riding a different brand he carries now. I’m guessing he’s not in Yeti’s good book anymore🤣😂

I’ve been told over $20K AUD here in Australia. So eye-wateringly expensive !!
