New TCU Firmware Update 25.B.0

Long detailed post with no explanations accompanying (sorry) in the vain hope Specialized reads this forum...... Here’s what my 2020 Levi’s started doing. After getting all blue bars whizzing up then down on single short press of on button (November 2019 UK purchased 2020 Levo) I get single red and single blue non-flashing LEDs. These clear to all the correct blue bars after about 15 seconds. Switching off and repeating leads to same sequence ending with red/blue single LEDs for 15 seconds and all OK. Second repeat switch off and on leads to a normal outcome of all blue bars and no red/blue LED combo at all. Third and subsequent on/off cycles also normal. All visible wires dry and clean on control unit and in power plug connector area. Specialized App (iOS) shows no faults at end of this ‘sequence’ but will not connect during the single red and single blue bar segment of the sequence - so I have no info at all to help explain. Once blue lights all showing, bike rides normally. Sorry I didn’t check the Firmware. But from this thread, since a single quick press of on switch is all that’s needed, wondering if it’s 25. Will report back with that and what my UK lbs says at its first ‘free’ service which I’m doing at 3 months and 240 miles.

Just had a chat with a Specialized mechanic and I was surprised to find out that every time you switch the bike on it connects with the cloud and streams data from your rides. They can tell what mode you ride in, where you go etc pretty much Big Brother is watching you.
Turns out I was on firmware 1?? now updated to 25

Cripes ???

moje turbo levo 2020 funguje skvěle, ale najednou přestala komunikovat s mým telefonem a specializovanou aplikací. BT telefon vidí vše kolem, pouze turbo vlevo nevidí. Stalo se to někomu?

Not me in normal use. Blue tooth communication to Secialized iOS App only fails when single red and single blue error code showing on TCU - see my post above.

Only if you’re using the Mission Control app as it needs to be connected to the phone to get data sent via the mobile network.

This is scary, so what records the info? is it the tcu or app? what happens if you don't use Mission control, does the lbs download it when they see it?

I think they can only see this data if you are connected to the TCU (using MC app) while riding, I don't think they can ever see or download your rides if you don't use MC, because TCU doesn't have integrated GPS to record such data... but most probably they can get some other data history such as motor load, cadence, battery consuption and similar to easily identify source of potential problems ...

Big brother is indeed watching! so they get the technical data not location data. I ask as some of us us BLEvo not Mission Control. I would't want to be in a position where Spesh can turn down warranty issues claiming they can't get into the want.

Looking at this worldwide map again, it's quite unbelievable how many ebike rides are spread only across Europe compared to the rest of the world, looks like if you put all non-Europe rides together they wont reach 5% of rides in Europe ...

I believe it’s time based, you’re seeing the latest rides on the map. Hence it’s likely daylight in Europe and night time in the rest of the world.

It’s about time we were able to apply these firmware updates at home rather than have to go on a two hour round trip to a dealer which then takes 5 minutes to complete! Come on Specialised if I can update my DAB radio why not my bike?
It’s quite frustrating having to take it to a dealer for this?

Why bother updating the firmware? Have never seen any info on what updates do so where is the benefit? My firmware is as per when I bought the bike over a year ago. Everything works fine so why mess with it!

Why not? I’ve had the firmware updated by my LBS and have just done it myself, everything works fine so no reason not to “mess with it!” (update) ?!?
