Hi All,

Just ordered a Pro, obviously can't wait to get it. But in the meantime are there any first things which should be done, and out of the box changes ?.

I am going to change the Magura brakes to my XTRs, what's people's experience with changing brake hoses, do you need to drop the motor or can you feed through?. I am coming from a Rise and before that a Rail, i prefer to no remove the motor just because prior experience and show me they can often creak when they go back in (Bosch esp). No problem removing the Amflow motor if needed, just hoping don't need to.

Do people invisiframe their bikes ?, heard the paint is prone to scratching ? (Not overly worried as it is a MTB but interested to know)

Many thanks

Yep, ride wrap or invisiframe a carbon bike is a good idea.
Change out the components you dont want to use before riding so you can sell them "as new".
Take some photo's while its virginal and then ride it like you stole it.

Do what I did -

1. Buy invisiframe in good time so it arrives a week or so before
2. Realise how much of a ballache invisiframe is to apply
3. Become too impatient when the bike arrives and take it out and get it real muddy on day 1.
4. Stare at invisiframe in the corner of the room saying "one day."

I've not closely inspected my frame but at a glance it's still fine - I was riding at quite a flinty trail centre the other day and had some nasty bits flick up and make that god awful sound but it's still looking good. I will do it on a long sunday some day in the summer. I will have to properly clean and degrease the bike first now.

I changed the grips to Peaty's - I just prefer mushroom style grips. I also added the Fox 32 mudguard which is actually an alright bit of kit.

I've not changed the rear yet - but I found both tyres initially offering woeful grip and compression. I let 2 PSI out of both from the recommended for my weight and it transformed them - they now grip up great and have a lovely cushion to the trail. But now the rear casing is to flimsy and you can feel the tyre compressing too far on hard landings. So I will swap that for a DD DHR2 most likely over the coming weeks, and I'll put a Exo+ MaxxGrip Ardent on the front.

Thanks all, I posted the question a few weeks ago, so just got on with it in the meantime :), invisframe (which was a bit of a pain), change a few parts, but most important ridden it loads, amazing bike, really can't fault anything at all. Big step up over my Orbea Rise and Trek Rail.
