My spare E8010 battery doesn't work in my bike

I bought an Intense Tazer with 20 miles on it and 2 batteries. The bike is great. One of the batteries works perfectly, when mounted to the bike and turned on, the shimano screen boots up and all is good. The other batttery is showing full charge (5 bars), but when installed on the bike it does not power up the bike.

Am I missing something? Do they need to be paired to each other?

No, the Shimano batteries should work in any bike, they dont need to be paired - i.e you battery should work in my bike, and mine in yours

Thank you. Is there a common issue with these batteries? This pack looks to be like new and has a full charge, it simply won't talk to the bike.

We haven't had any problems with that pack ourselves, nor have I read about other problems similar to yours. My guess is it's damaged or defective in some way, unfortunately.
