just a reminder that carbon headtubes lose out to trees! Just swapped to DHX2 coil and went for a test ride at night and made an error, mis-timing a step down in the dark (WHY DID I EVEN TRY THAT?!).

Headtube made contact with a small tree off the side of the trail. Didn't realise the damage until the next ride when it sounded super creaky. Devastated for a 8 month old bike that I absolutely love.

Of course it's me, not the carbon but I've always had alloy bikes for this exact reason. Unsure if I will stay with the Slash+ as the same thing could happen again. It's a shame because it's a total beast of a bike but I now have quite serious carbon failure PTSD!

My ideal ebike has the TQ (for the great pedalling, quiet operation and lightweight motor+battery) + alloy frame + 160mm+ish rear travel

I may look at an alloy Fuel+ pimped out with a coil and special sauce setup (Fuel+ MX Long-Stroke: 163mm travel, 205x65mm shock) to take it's place. If there's any other contenders out there let me know. If only the Propain Sresh SL or Norco Sight VLT TQ came in alloy!

a moment of silence please, my Slash+ was just too good for this world.
