mountain biking around Edinburgh area

I'm going to the be visiting the beautiful city of Edinburgh in August and was looking for some recommendations for some excellent mountain bike ride areas in the area (say maximum of 20 miles travel). I'm preferably looking for steep and technical but anything is bound to be better than dull Oxfordshire.

Innerleithen and Glentress are just south of Edinburgh, about half an hour away.

Probably more than enough there.

For non park type trails, @Gary should be able to tell you more.

If it's steep and technical is you bag The Golfie is the place to be, called the Golfie because it is behind the golf course at Innerleithen (Caberston forest) loads of videos on You Tube, Mctrail rider or Street Pigeon will give you an idea

Golfie POV videos rarely give a decent idea of what it's really like. There are plenty other steep and technical places to ride not much further too.
