Might a TQ HPR90 announcement be imminent (June at Eurobike)?

Recently I bought my first TQ based bike (a Lauf eElja) as a shorter travel XC orientated bike. I also intend to get a longer travel all-mountain/enduro machine to balance out my riding needs and then sell my Orbea Rise. I was tempted with the Trek Slash+ 9.7 which is on sale, but I really would like a more powerful motor for this style of bike but not something noisy like the Bosch or Avinox. So I'd love a stronger TQ or the Maxon Air A (but that will probably never make it to the USA). I've been hearing rumors of a TQ HPR90 (or even a 100), though I would believe the 90 over the 100...

So I started looking. Now this is just pure speculation on my part, but I'm thinking a more powerful motor might be released in June or July....

Ignoring the HPR120 (which is a different beast), the original HPR50 was launched in September 2022, quickly followed by the Trek EXE.

Fast forward to last year and the HPR60 and HPR40 and 40X were announced in June (at Eurobike). At the same time on the HPR60 front, The Yeti MTe, Norco Sight VLT TQ where annouced. The Trek Slash+ which was HPR50 based was transitioned to HPR60. The Trek Fuel+ was launched a couple months later in August 7.

Now I have been looking at these bikes,
Yeti MTe - still available at dealers in very limited quanties.
Norco Slight VLT TQ - most models listed as sold out with no restocking date in mind. I've read on another forum tha Norco is saying that they have no knowledge if it'll be restocked.
Trek Fuel+ - completely sold out with new availability being around August 5-8th. That is precisely when the first gen was announced.
Trek Slash+ - They're all on sale as if Trek is trying to clear out stock before something new comes along.

Companies that appear to have plenty of availability are Propain and smaller companies like Lauf - who just launched a new model.

On a TQ youtube video I commented that now they need to release a HPR80 (when I thought the next one may go up to 80) and I go a but heart from TQ on my post.

So here's my theory. TQ Announces a new higher power TQ motor that is a plug-in replacement for the current 60 in June (againt at Eurobike). The Trek bikes will come back into stock with the HPR90. The Norco Sight VLT is relaunched with the new motor.

My TOTAL GUESS is that the motor will be like the HPR60 size and in day to day operation but with a super boost mode that can run up o 90nm and 450w power, still with 200% assist. It would be nice if they could go to 300% assist but I don't think it'll happen - not in the same size. It would be as quiet as the current motor with the same natural feel, just a bit stronger.

It would be nice if the battery tech was upgraded, at least from a fast charge perspective and if the existing range extenders worked with the new motor. This last past is total speculation and wishfull thinking.

So what do you think? Might I be on the right timeline?

No idea about your timeline or even if your hypothesis is correct. But I like the idea of an HPR80/90 that could be a direct replacement to the HPR60. (y) Even with the existing 580Wh battery that would still allow a bike like my Fuel+ to keep a good range riding in Mid power mode, whilst allowing the extra oomph needed occasionally to get over a steep technical section.

Trek Slash+ - They're all on sale as if Trek is trying to clear out stock before something new comes along.

Not in the UK; the 2025 models are discounted but not the 2026 with the TQ60 motor.

That would be interesting. That would be a really competitive move. I am also not an Avinox fan but I do not need or want that much power, ever. I also hope TQ starts using slightly denser batteries for more range. I am looking hard at the Trek TQ60 and more range is the most appealing thing since it is light enough and the handling is highly regarded.

I’ve heard TQ has something very cool coming - a 90ish motor, still light and very compact fits the bill. Be great to see a counter to the Avinox stupidity.
These super high power motors do not interest me. I test rode a Trek Rail 7 back in 2021 and that was too powerful for me at the time. It was the reason my first eMTB was a lighter power Orbea Rise.

I’ll admit that I’ve lost fitness - I’m also getting older - so getting the HPH60 Lauf will allow me to get back to an even more natural feel and help me strengthen again.

Then for my bigger play bike, I still want to keep that feel of the TQ. While I’ve never needed more than 60nm when riding in the mountains, I’ll admit there were days when I wished I could have just a little more.

I’m really hoping that the Trek Fuel+ LX gets upgraded with a HPR90 in August. If so, that’ll be my next bike (and I won’t care how much it costs.. 😁)

why not both? a high powered bruiser and a lightweight trailbike?
That has crossed my mind. I just don’t like the drone most high power motors give. Or the rattle a lot have. My Orbea Rise has them Shimano rattle and I’ve vowed I’d never have a motor that’s noisy again.

My new light weight TQ HPR60 bike is so quiet I’m in love with it. Now I’m hoping for a meatier version for the bruiser bike.

It’s pure speculation but I don’t think the brands using the tq 60 were expecting the success of these models that’s why it’s difficult ton find some.
I also heard there will be new bikes using the hpr60 this year.
It doesn’t really make sense to launch a more powerful system but also close to the 60. The smartest move that TQ could do is to upgrade the tq hpr60 but I don’t even know if they are still planning to introduce updates by the TQ app.

Anyone heard anything further confirming a power increase? A 90nm+ version would be perfect for me, retaining the same 580wh battery. Borrowed a DruidE with a 600wh battery this weekend and easily got 4+ hours of out it, so I'm sold on the smaller batteries to keep weight down.

a TQ with same form factor, close to 90-100 Nm and 600-800W peak, could be a great disruptor and the proof that EU / US tech companies can reply to Avinox on another terrain than pure extreme power (as long as the power delivery is a smooth on the M1).

Addd a slim battery, wireless control AND NO smartphone required to ride / calibrate the motor : insta buy.
