I laugh at your 52! I didn't even get my first mtb until I was 58.
I'm now 72 and the intervening years have been very well spent!

I’m also middle aged at 74. I started Emtb'’ing at 72 years and since I plan to be riding into my late 90's, I figure 74 for me is still in the middle age range
