Hello,

I'm looking for my first emtb. I bought my first mtb (Orbea Occam H30) a year ago but quickly found that climbing is just a necessary evil for the fun of going downhill. I'm lucky if I manage to get out riding once a week so an emtb would really maximize the amount of fun per ride.

I've seen both the Meta Power 29 2018 and the Meta Power 27 essential 2019 available for some time on commencals website, would you still consider this good value considering it's the older Shimano motor from what I understand.

A used bike would be an alternative but the market for used emtb in size XL (I'm 2 m tall) is pretty non-existent in Sweden where I live. Around 4000 € is probably the most I'm willing to spend for a bike, more than that seems a waste for someone who doesn't get to do that much riding.

The thing is.... that when you get an emtb you are going to do a lot more riding...

The older Shimano motor is perfectly fine. Check out the EP8 vs E8000 comparisons on YouTube. Doesn't seem to be too much of a difference...

As said earlier, the older shimano motor works really well. I actually got a chance to ride on one and honestly I had a hard time telling the difference. It seemed louder, but that was the only apparent thing. If you can get a good price on an earlier model bike then go for it.

Also, what you say about not having time to ride is really perfect for an ebike. Because you can literally have your cake and eat it too if you want. You can be less great of shape and still be able to ride the trails that you want However you will find ways to ride more than once a week when you get your ebike trust me lol.

I am in better shape than I have been in years thanks soley to the purchase of an ebike. I am also riding my regular bike more than I have in years.
