Anybody using this detachable chin bar helmet? What do you like/dislike about it? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger, but I feel like those of you not in the USA probably have more experience with this helmet than us SoCal types! Almost 400 USD is alot to take a chance without being able to see it or try it on....

I have had the first Met Parachute and it was excellent. Subsequent iterations got better and better. I currently have one of their non-detachable Parachutes. It is great, bit tricky to get on, but super comfy once on.
The Met Parachute MCR reviews well and based upon my experience (METS helmets fit me) and the review I would get one if I needed one.

Edit: I wouldn't worry about the claim that it is difficult to attach the chin bar whilst on the trail. You will soon get the hang of it. When he was 15, I bought my grandson a chin bar for his Bell Super 3R helmet. The chin bar was tricky at first and he was on the point of throwing a strop. But with a bit of encouragement, he soon got the hang of it.

Thanks Steve! Where I ride, there tends to be some long, pretty warm climbs followed by some pretty steep and rocky chutes. The prospect of a good convertible for me is obvious: Save the face, but stay cool in the hellish summers when climbing. I’ve had one for 3 years, paid £180 for it, which I thought was crazy money at the time. But if you need a normal and full face helmet you would end up spending more for 2, it’s had some serious use and been worth the investment. Very comfortable and well ventilated, with the chin guard on it’s not much hotter than without. Useful to only have to carry one helmet on biking trips and take the chin on and off as needed. Just throw it in the back pack takes a few seconds to attach.
I’m due a new one soon as it’s looking scruffy and has a big dent in the front, I will definitely buy another one.

I have one, and it is the best helmet I have ever had (I had the two previous versions of the Parachute).
They are great for anybody who wears glasses and hearing aids, as you can put it on without knocking them out of place, and then attach the chin guard.
I always wear it with the chin attached, as it is just as comfortable with it, and it gives a lot more protection.
When I bought mine, there had been crash/impact testing done on all the available removable chin guard helmets, and this one scored the highest by a long way.

Yes I have one too , bought it 2024 , I like it , relatively light for what it is , and like it's convertibility, it has MIPS , it;s comfortable and good field of vision with googles too. Normally use it just as a full face now and have a Giro Tyrant spherical for more chilled out riding but it also adds some side coverage too,

I have one. I recommend it. Best helmet i've owned. I love its versatility. A good piece of kit.

My son and I both have them and they are great.
Attaching the chin bar is easy once you have practised it a few times.
I find the straps very rough over my ears in full face mode so always put it on without the chin guard.
I find removing the chin guard whilst wearing difficult because the catches have small loops which you have to unclip, these are then rotated to remove the chin guard.
It is light and very comfortable and the magnetic closure is also very nice.
