Merida ETMO: Full-Sus Bosch From £3,650. What's the Catch?

The frame borrows from the eONE-EIGHTY platform but uses a different aluminium manufacturing process to bring production costs down.

"The next cheapest CX full-sus we could find is the Focus JAM² 6.7 at £4,899"

Cube Hybrid Stereo 144/177 Race & SLX are all cheaper - or have I misunderstood?

I bought mine for 3,300 euros Cube Hybrid Stereo 177 Race
So this Merida is not that cheap, I'm sure there will be promotions and you will be able to buy this bike cheaper

I am thinking they needed an outlet for an excess of the eOne-Eighty frames, which presumably did not sell as well as they'd hoped.
Effectively, they've taken a 180/180 eEnduro/eDH rig and turned it into a 160/160 trail bike, but left the weight as it was.
I understand this is a cheaper alternative, but they could have taken the alloy eOne-Sixty and made a slightly lighter 160mm travel bike with cheaper components and hit the market with an overall (IMO) better proposition.

Feels like a weird set of choices made by the team at Merida.
