The Maven brakes have tons of stopping force but are difficult to modulate. The front brake particularly I have a tough time trying to engage smoothly. I read some online reviews with similar remarks.

What pads are others using? What are your impressions?

I have Galfer red pads on order. I know many say purple emtb specific pads but the Maven calipers and pads are huge and I am light, 170 lbs so I went with red. They should be here soon.

I prefer Galfer purple which is supposed to be semi organic, finds them better in wet weather they're quiet and dry up the disks much faster than the SRAM organic pads, don't like sintered.
Never had any problem with modulation.
Bronze don't have the pad point adjustment maybe that's the reason.

I pulled the caliper once pushed the pistons in then reinstall it w the original pads that helped a bit with the on/off. I didn’t have the correct Allen wrench to remove the pads, no c-clip from the factory either. Put in the Galfer pads, like them a lot, very progressive.
