The VESC M600 controller has been installed. Still waiting the frame.

Does anyone know if the frame in the controller area is wider than the motor? The ribs pattern on the VESC M600 controller is different and I am afraid it will interfere with the frame. It is hard to tell looking on the pictures if the motor in that area in narrower than the frame or not

Is this the Ludicrous V2 controller? Where did you get that? I would also like to ride my M600 on VESC 💪🤠(y) Does that work well?

Yes it is Ludicrous V2. I ordered the parts on JLCPCB and soldered it. I tested it without frame only and it works. I do not know how it will work in the real world yet but according to the Luna advertisement this works better than Bafang controller.

You can order the controller and the cover on JLCPCB and solder it if you have tools (or order whole assembly from JLCPCB, but that is going to be expensive), it was open sourced

It looks like the V2 frame uses aluminum inserts attached to the carbon fiber rear triangle for the wheel and the brake caliper. And it looks like the aluminum inserts have 2 options for 29" and for 27.5" rear wheel

The Kunlun V2 brake mount post interferes with 3X3 nine gear hub torque arm so I milled the interference off. The new Bafang metal plate speed sensor also can not work with the 3x3 nine hub because of the speed sensor metal plate should be mounted on a standard rear disk brake interface and the 3x3 nine hub uses different disc brake interface. So I need to figure out the speed sensor too. I guess I need to use old style magnet speed sensor for VESC m600 anyway.

The frame wrapping is complete and works great! If you want to replicate here are the files for cutting. These files are for Markhor Kunlun V2 size S1 frame. I do not know if they fit other Kunlun frame models or sizes


The material I used for wrapping is helicopter tape. I used this 8 mil thick 4" wide 12' long tape for laser cutting and the pieces are designed for cut from this tape.



I recommend to cut the pieces from 4" wide masking tape first and put each piece to see exactly where each piece goes and then remove the masking tape pieces one by one replacing it by actual helicopter tape to avoid possible interference.

The rear triangle in wrapped with rubber strips from bicycle wheel tubes instead of helicopter tape

i dont post here much but my kunlun is still going strong 💪

no problems except for the weaker 720wh battery. this in combination with the 195mm travel and uber tires makes the battery drain quickly

for some outings to quickly,

and i changed from display in frame to normal dpc245 as i broke the handlebar controller and that has a special cable , cannof source that one from ali hence i converted to dpc245

In case of someone wants to hot rod Markhor Kunlun and build the custom 60V 60A battery to use it with the VESC for Bafang M600 or M560 controllers here are the CAD files with the battery case and the new seat post compartment cover parts designed for FDM 3D printing.


For the battery case parts I recommend to use glass filled nylon

This is 16S3P battery with 21700 cells.

I used Samsung 50S cells


I used this JBD SP17S005 battery management system 60A with Li-ion 3.7V settings


You can purchase it on Green Bike Kit website, here are the settings for the order

The heat-set inserts are M6. You can purchase it here. Those inserts need to be shortened maybe 2 mm to fit properly

Man I would love to have a bigger 900Wh battery in my Kunlun V2 and getting more power extracted from the motor. But making this myself is not something I am familiar with, are you also offering a plug&play solution for a bigger battery that is usable with the M560 ?
 
No, I have files for 3D print only for this battery. But you might be able to utilize the same housing for stock M560 if you change amount of parallel cells. This battery is 16S3P (48 cells total). You can make it 12S4P which is 44V nominal. I do not know if stock M560 can work with 44V though.
 
hay guys.... had my Kunlun for about year and a half very happy with my purchase haven't had any major issue's at all very happy with it :) my question is does anyone have a bearing list for the bike i need to change out the rear lower pivot bearing which is starting to creak

The 3x3 still works fine. I like it, it works without issues and does not need maintenance. No grinding noises. I had Kindernay VII died on my other ebike after some time (the internal gears were chewed), I used it with 3000W Innotrace X1 controller with Bafang M620 though.

I have destroyed 2 x Kindernay 7 on my Dengfu e22, with stock 48v m620. I had alot of various problems with Kindernay. They are great when they work, but unfortuantly not very reliable. (Probably why they went out of buisness) So far the CYC 5spd cassette based system is shaping up to be a very reliable and very affordable option.
