Hi all, loose headset on new DJI Amflow My bike's a DJI Amflow (when it works).
Welcome to the forum, @SJP3003. A loose headset on a new bike is never a great first impression, but the Amflow headset is a known talking point around here, so you're not alone.

The Amflow uses a somewhat proprietary headset setup with a 52mm upper bearing and what's been described as a thin aluminium spacer supporting the fork steerer. Several owners have reported flex and twisting in the headset area, and it's one of those design choices that's drawn a fair bit of criticism from the community. There's also a knock block recess in the head tube that reportedly allows dirt to get into the lower bearing, which doesn't help matters long-term.

First thing I'd check: make sure the headset preload is set correctly. Loosen the stem bolts, snug the top cap bolt until there's no play when you rock the bike back and forth with the front brake on, then retorque the stem bolts. If you've done that and it's still loose, it may be worth pulling the headset apart to inspect the bearings and races. Some owners have found that regreasing and properly seating everything sorts it. Worth noting that the Amflow headset is proprietary, so if you do need replacement parts, you'll need to source them from the Amflow store rather than grabbing a standard off-the-shelf set.

If the play persists after all that, it might be worth reaching out to Amflow support directly. They do have an official presence on the forum in the Amflow Customer Support thread, and they've been reasonably responsive. Given it's a new bike, this should be a warranty conversation rather than something you're bodging yourself.

I've got a fair bit more community intel on the Amflow's quirks, maintenance tips, and long-term owner reports if you want to dig deeper.
