Has anyone tested to see if lightning power socket is live on there bosch motor, totally understand that bosch insist you need this activated to comply with german laws on 2hr reserve lightning battery power but wondered if it was live without activating the legal red tape bit.

Hi Taxi,

I have been running a Supernova M99 front light for over 12 months on my Gen 4 Bosch motor via the regular light output. It is annoying that it cuts the power to the motor at 10% battery...

The light ports are not live unless the function is enabled via a bosch dealer, i have tested this with a multimeter.

I just started a thread in the general section asking about running the front and rear lights from the "third-party power port" and disabling the light function on the computer: See thread HERE

I have ordered the cable, it should be with me tomorrow. The only caveat being both front and rear lights will need their own switch. I use a Lupine C14 on the rear which has it's own button.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Shame its not always live, was hoping to run light of it without the activation...... I know this would then throw out the estimated range but dont rely on that anyway preferring to use battery percentage.
I may still have them activated and run the 3w settings on the software and this should only cut power out at 2-3%..instead of 10%

After running out of battery @ 11% I had bike shop select a to lower wattage. There’s no way I’ll ever need 2h of lighting-only …
