Hi All

Given the unprecedented rise in the thefts of E bikes either from homes, chained up on trails or at knife point on trails has any one got any info on GPS trackers that they have had fitted to their bikes and what would you recommend.
if not a GPS, what trackers are out there that can be built into the frame work that can either not been seen or deactivated and can be powered by the bike battery so there is no worry of the tracker going dead and the need to replace batteries every other month.

Glad to hear it's not just only happening here ..... lots of bike-jackings on a daily basis here

I have a AirTag hidden in the frame ... hopefully its there just long enough to track it ... but the only thing you can do is insure and when they pull a gun (our guys don't have knives) just give them bike

Hi Duncan, yer no guns here yet but they are about, I was looking at the air tag but how is the air tag tracked when out of range from your phone does it not rely on other internet connections to be able to track ? Have you tried looking for your bike when you have traveled away from it and what was the success. Must say some what envious of your location as I love cycling round Africa done 3 tours in six years, Zambia, Malawi and Kenya stunning country fantastic ride the great north rift was out of this world.

The air tag will connect to any apple device that is close by and get a location .... but if you travelling in africa you not going to find many Iphone or iPads to bounce a location off.... although my last iPhone that was stollen from me from a guy wielding a massive panga ended up in Congo... 3 days later. (got a call from the new owner asking if I'd unlock it, as he just bought it)

But the locking feature is great .... I wonder if a dealer can unlock it ? or if there is a spec database they look to see if the serial number matched a reported stolen bike.... I bed you can still bribe them to unlock.
