Post photos of you old bikes, or current non-electric bikes!

I don't think I have any photos of my old MTBs from the 90s so I'll start with my first full suss when I go back into mountain biking after years of riding BMX.

2005 Specialized Demo 8 (this was like a magic carpet, but total overkill for my local trails)

2006 24Seven Slacker

2007 Specialized SX Trail (swapped the Demo for this. Probably one of the most fun bikes I've owned)

2010(ish) NS Traffic (built this from the frame up)

2012 BSD Forever (swapped this for the NS Traffic in an attempt to get back into BMX but decided at 32 I was too old and stiff!)

2012 Nukeproof Mega (sold the SX Trail to fund this. I built it from the frame up and had it until 2024 when I replaced it with the Trek Roscoe. I'd have happily kept it but everything was outdated for spares etc)

2014 Cube Hyde Race (got this for commuting to work, sadly it got stolen. Replaced it with a Genesis CdF which I hated)

2018 Cube NuRoad (replaced the Genesis with this. Still in active use as it got me into gravel biking. Only the frame, forks, crank and brakes are left from the stock bike)

2024 Trek Roscoe 9 (had this until January this year when I replaced with a 2025 Orbea Rise LT H10)

None of my friends had seen an bike that could be used in the mountains, with so many gears and they where sure this type of bikes would be a flop.

Spesh stumpy 2021, upgraded almost everything from stock, 150-130 upforked trail bike. Very nimble and fun. 10 kg difference with my e-bike (13.5 vs 23.5) makes it whole different ride and feel.

From my Facebook memories today, 2012 XC machine named Beyonce. It was a frame from ICAN and was basically a Scott but without the paint. Beautiful finish, rode like a dream (at the time)

I’ve had a few in my time, but the bikes that immediately preceded my eBike are:
Giant Reign SX (2011)
Giant Trance X2 (2011)
Silverback Stride Expert (2019?)

My first mtb, a Kona Kula bought new in Aug 2008. A 100mm travel hardtail 26er, I kept it for ages. I upgraded the parts over the years but eventually sold it to a friend of mine for his son's birthday. I never got paid for it because the silly sod went and got himself killed in action and I didn't have the heart to chase his widow for the money.

My first full suss, the Giant Anthem X2 26er bought in Sep'09. It was an ex-demo from Rutland Cycling at Rutland Water, hardly used. I paid £1000 for it when the brand new ones were selling for £2000. Bargain. But the 100mm travel suspension was insufficient and I sold it for £800 in Jul'10 for £800. I thought I'd done OK until I realised that the frame alone cost £800! No wonder the phone was ringing off the hook!

My first "All Mountain" full suss A 2009 Kona Dawg Supreme, bought new in Jun'10. Got a 45% discount vs the 2010 model. Another 26er but with an unusual (I think) 150mm rear travel and 140mm front travel. I soon got rid of those bar-ends as they kept snagging on the shrubbery. It developed a persistent brake vibration problem that vibrated the frame, it sounded like a car horn coming down a long descent. I even changed the entire brake system and it still did it! I had it nearly three years, but it was replaced in Mar'13. I broke up the bike and sold off all the parts.

My next was a Norco Sight 1, another 26er but with 140mm travel F&R. Bought in Mar 2013. This bike transformed my riding. It was the first one I had bought that all the reviewers gave 5*. I felt so confident on this bike. I ended up owning it for almost 4 years. Sold it to a friend. Lovely bike! This is it the day I handed it over.

While I still had the Norco I bought a YT Capra CF 2 in Jun'15. It was 27.5" wheels, 165mm R, 160mm F. My first carbon fibre framed bike and my first that wasn't a 26er. Absolutely brilliant bike and another 5* reviewed bike. I bought it because I wanted to go ride in rougher places, but it coincided with the start of arthritis in my knees and I never really did take full advantage of it. In Nov'17, I converted it from 2x10 to a 1x12, but less than a year later I decided to move to an emtb and I sold it in Oct'18 with less than 600 miles on it. I "only" lost £800 on it (not counting the conversion cost to 1x12).

In Nov'16 I bought the WMB magazine Trail Bike of the Year, the Whyte T130C RS. Another 27.5" wheeled bike this time with 130mm F&R. Oh wow, this bike was phenonenal! The suspension felt like I could take it anywhere and the geo was spot on. I stopped riding this bike in Jan'18 when I bought my first emtb. I gave it a try 3 months later, but my knee pain came back, so I sold it In Mar'19. I only got £1800 for it and with hindsight I wish I'd kept it for my grandson to use when he got bigger. He'd still be riding it now.

That brings me to my first emtb, bought in Jan'19. The 2019 Focus Jam2 9.6 NINE, my first (and last) 29er. Shimano e8000 motor, carbon frame, 150mm F&R. I tested 7-8 different bikes before choosing this one because it felt most like me on a really good day. I later learned that was down to the Shimano motor. I loved this bike! It released me from the tyranny of my knee pain and I was back to unlimited riding. It only weighed 20.2kg (378W-hr battery). But the range was a bit short and the TEC pack was fugly. During the pandemic in Jul'21 when bikes were in short supply, I got the chance to sell what was by then a two and half year old bike with over 3000 miles on the clock for £3000!! :ROFLMAO: I also sold the buyer the TEC pack for another £200.

I was very lucky to get this next bike, which is my current emtb. It's a 2021 Merida e-One Sixty 9000, carbon framed mullet with 160mm F&R, Shimano EP8. I had done my research and I really wanted this bike. But they were sold out everywhere, until this JE James staff bike came onto the market (they had forgotten they had it!) The geometry fitted, the reviews were all 5*, the battery size of 625W-hr was good and although by that time Shimano was starting to develop a bad name for lack of ability to maintain it, I'd had zero problems with the e8000. I've now had this bike since Jul'21, over four and a half years. The EP8 has been flawless and the bike as a whole has only had consumable items replaced. No upgrades have been required or even wanted. I'm not even sure that I need, let alone want, to change it. But I am starting to get an itchy saddle!

Not convinced about the Amflow, I'm more leaning towards a Santa Cruz Vala, not sure which one yet, probably the S. :)
