Least risky second hand e-bike purchase.

Just really thinking how I can get my son on an e-bike for rides with me. I’m “only” on a Bosch SX system, and he’s only 20 so it could be argued he should be able to keep up on a non-eeb, but the terrain where we live is steep and it’ll be hard going, and for the purposes of parental harmony, a low power e-bike would suit him.

So what would we think would the least risky route, or the easiest system to repair out of warranty if need be.

Seems to be plenty of used Orbea Rise around for not a lot of money. Or Brose in the Specialized seems fairly serviceable.

Say £2,000.00 budget.

Don't go Shimano if you want an easily repairable motor.

I would say a gen2/3 Levo would be a good shout. You mihgt find some secondhand gen 3s that are still in warranty also (it's transferable).

My buddy picked up a basically brand new Gen 3 Levo for 3k. Its the carbon one without the mastermind, but has the big battery. Brilliant purchase. So, if you arent in a rush, you can find some deals. Best of luck

If I was purchasing a 2nd hand e-bike, or EMTB, a computer print out might be useful.

Sometimes your local Bike Shop can provide that information. Mileage, service frequency, motor condition etc. That information could be helpful.
