Lapierre thought?

Good Afternoon All

I'm a new member here.....

I have just ordered one of these (Lapierre Overvolt AM 6.7)from Paul's and have not found much information on them online, but my search brought me here to this thread.

Do you have any further feedback on ownership now that it's been a few weeks?

I need convincing that I have made a good choice 😀

This is my first eMTB, but I have been riding mountain bikes for 25+ years now, from fully rigid back in the day, to hardtails, full suspension, and now delving into assisted (I am 47 this year, so I'm creaking a little 😊). Currently own a modified Whyte 429 Hardtail and had a layoff due to injury for a few months, so I'm looking forward to getting back into it this spring/summer season.

Any feedback, good or bad, on this machine would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Dave
If anyone is interested in adding mudguards to this bike, I can highly recommend the SKS Mudrocker front and rear set, they for this bike perfectly!
I've ridden a few miles and no slippage or problems with these!

Hi all, I landed on this page after a Google search about the Overvolt 6.7 so thought I should join! This is my first eMTB, bought from Paul’s, and it will complement my Propain Tyee. A week in and it really is an outstanding bike and bizarrely good at jumping!

If anyone is thinking about upgrades, I have put on some Fox 38 Performance Elite forks and a Fox X2 shock (very cheap in a sale!), both of which work really well with the bike, the shock especially makes a huge difference both in terms of comfort and dynamics. I’ve also swapped the brake levers for M6100’s, which was a two minute job and again makes a huge difference. Absolutely brilliant bike, I hope you are all enjoying yours as much as I am :)

Edit to add, if anyone else is thinking of the shock change, I had to factor in an extra £29 to have the correct bushes added to the new shock.

@SteAmtb - It's good to see others have positive experiences with this bike.

I took mine out for its first ride yesterday morning and ended up going far too far on it, bearing in mind I have been off with an injury since the tail end of last summer :).....

Ended up doing one of my "medium" length routes usually done on my hardtail, around 25 miles in about 2.5 hrs. Had about 40% battery left, and the app says I did 45% of the peddling 🤣 , which is about right, I think, from how I felt at the end.

Realisitly, if I had been on the hardtail under my own power all the way, 10-15 miles would have been the absolute maximum for first time out in a while, so the distance on the eBike seems logical. Obviously, with the assistance, you feel invincible initially. Even though I was strict about using the Eco modes to begin with, as the fatigue set in and the miles clocked up, I added more assistance.

Either way, it was great fun 👍. The bike still feels a little alien and a bit of a lump, but it does feel super stable and planted. It was more the fact that my riding skill and balance have probably suffered over the winter rather than anything the bike was doing negatively.

I am looking forward to putting more miles on this week.

PS: No upgrades yet. But I am converting to tubeless tomorrow evening.

On the note of tubeless, I’ve set up countless tyres and I don’t remember having a new tyre and rim I couldn’t get to seal. The front was almost that tyre, I only just managed it with an air blaster pump whilst furiously pumping and swearing.

It might be that I always use narrower tape, I did order some 40mm WTB when I was struggling, or it might have been a slight difference in the tyre, who knows! The rear was a two minute job :)

Yeah, I am somewhat lucky to have a compressor. I always take the inner of the valve out, use a blow gun to seat the bead, and then use a bottle and tube to stick in the sealent. It's slightly slower than "pouring" it in before you try and seat things, but it's not as messy if things don't go as planned :) . Track pump it up to pressure 👍

Obviously, I have never had an issue with a compressor due to the large volume of air they can move in one hit.

Ahhhh hopefully it should be really straightforward then! And big yes to putting it in via the valve :)

I had trouble with the front too!
Had no trouble seating it with my airshot canister, just couldn't stop air leaking around the spokes. The rim tape I had was a tad wide so after 3 attempts took it all off and went to the LBS. Admittedly it did lose pressure again overnight but the next ride it did indeed seal properly.
The rear was a different ball game. I didn't even use rim tape, just left the giant rubber band on and it worked first time!

A little update. As I said earlier, the forks developed a knocking. Pauls Cycles diagnosed a faulty damper and paid me the carriage back to them. They sent them off to SRAM to repair under warranty which they duly did.
The forks arrived back with me only 8 days after I sent them, so pretty quick really.
I didn't notice at first but then realised I had high and low compression adjusters on top of the fork leg. It transpires they have upgraded me with a Charger 2.1 damper.

That’s a great result. Glad you got it sorted out and in a fairly good time also.

Completed the tubeless conversion last week. I noticed a few people mentioned having to tape the rims. Both my wheels were fully taped from the factory it seems. Result 👍 Removed the tubes, fitted the valves and sealant and inflated. Good to go!

I have covered about 130 miles now and the bike is great. Getting more used to the weight, handling and riding an Ebike in general.

Got out today for my first 'off road' ride of about 13km and very pleased. Thoughts;
  • Motor - even though it's the same as my old Cube, just felt smoother
  • Flow app / smart system - brilliant ! One of my criticisms of the Cube in Turbo mode was having all the power delivered immediately. Sounds great but for me, I want a bit of delay, especially when starting on a hill, so the config in the app is so easy.
  • Brakes - pretty good. Not as good as the Magura's on the Cube but definitely stopped me
  • Mullet - will take a bit of getting used to. Several times I miscalculated steering around rocks / obstacles due to the 29" up front. But I will get used to it
  • Upgrades / changes - already shortened the bars by 3cm as just felt unwieldy. Swapped the LCD remote for a Purion 200 as I like the screen / display. Next will be a new dropper - I was on the cusp of Medium / Large so went for the Large. It was the right choice but the dropper is too big for my short legs !!
There's no getting around the fact that it's a heavy bike (haven't weighed it yet) but rides very well & defo worth the money :D

Hi all I’ve recently bought one of these lapierre 6.7 overvolt bikes and desperately need to get it chipped as not fast enough
Anyone know which SpeedBox I need ?
Cheers

How did you attach the front - did you have to use the velcro strap as opposed to bolting it. And into which 'slots' did you attach the connector.

Thanks.

I briefly researched this. I don't think any of them relay the speed correctly and also the Bosch smart system is very good at detecting the de-restrictors and shutting down. I decided not to proceed so I would be very careful. Make sure you look for one suitable for the Bosch smart system.

I heard this also. Plus i think they can work ok initially, then Bosch update the software which then renders the module purchased redundant again.

Saying this, there seem to be some YouTube success story videos, but I'm concerned about how long they will remain successful.

Funnily enough I was going to update this!

The bike arrived in a couple of days, fully built in a very large box!
It did come with some pedals (not mentioned online) but I had some DMR's ready and waiting.
It comes equipped with (new to me) shimano cues drivetrain. I realise from initial research that this is 'entry' level but I wouldn't have realised it. It all works very well. I am impressed with the Bosch Smart system, even down to the motor lock that only disengages when my phone is present !
I was also impressed with how quiet the bike was rolling along the trails. I have to shout out to people walking all the time.:ROFLMAO:
It comes with the Bosch LED controller. Just has led's for showing riding mode and battery charge. I missed the display of my old bike so I added a Purion 400 display. This is simple to install and integrates very nicely with loads of information as you ride.
After 80miles "testing" I do really like it.

However there is a slight glitch at the moment. The forks have started knocking. It took me a while to actually locate it. I sent an email (with a video) off to Pauls and to their credit they contacted me back really quickly (on a Sunday afternoon). I had the choice of removing them and sending them back (postage paid) for them to log it with Rockshox or take them to a local bike shop of my choice for them to contact Rockshox with £25 credit to go towards an inspection fee.
I sent them back and am waiting for an update at the moment.

I was going to save a review until afterwards but as you asked 🤣

I'm 66 this year so am entitled to an e-bike!!!
Hi Andy, I have also just purchased one of these Lapierre emtb's and am very impressed by it so far, however, while riding I notice a kind of tapping sound (I wouldn't describe it as a knock) which I think is coming from the Domain fork, I didn't think anything of it really until I read your thread... Could you elaborate on the fault/noise a bit more please and how to check it, I just want to rule out any potential fork issue on mine.
Many thanks
John

I'm trying to upload a video that I sent to paulscycles but it wont let me!.

With the front brake on I was bouncing the forks and it was clonking.

The bike (and me) got a proper test today while I was trying, unsuccessfully, to keep up with my son and his mate !!

Update report: After a bit over 2 months and 400 miles, i really like the bike :)
Flows through the woodland trails with no effort. A pleasure to ride, enjoying owning it!

One little niggle at the moment, i've noticed a light tapping sound over bumps, which sounds like it's coming from the shifter mech. Ive tried holding/pushing/pulling the levers while riding but it still persists. I removed it from the bars and tapped/shook it and cant make the noise. I'll have to try and disassemble it and have a proper look one day.

Another update - had my first outing yesterday which due to bad planning, ended up being 50% riding and 50% pushing. Walk assist is brilliant but boy is this bike heavy !

On the path / bridleway, great ride and getting used to the mullet set-up. Couple of issues to deal with following yesterdays outing - headset is loose (despite feeling tight on the trail) so will torque that today; indexing is out (suspect some cable stetch) as lost 3 gears. I had already changed the controller to a Purion 200 and shortened the effect of the dropper.

Minor things to address and overall, really pleased with it. Next weekend's outing will be a 25km loom with ~500m elevation gain but (hopefully) with no pushing !!

Anyone got some experience with the lapierre overvolt am 9.7 2025 model (gen 5)? Looking at getting one but so far I don't think there's been any reviews for this one yet.

I'm quite keen on the Lapierre Overvolt 6.7 TR as I doubt I'll be doing any Enduro/Heavy hitting terrain. Does anyone have an experience of this bike at all please?

I cant comment on that particular model but I'm on my second Lapierre and cant really say a bad word about the brand.
