Is there space between the motor and the frame in order to derestrict the CUBE Reaction Hybrid ONE 800 ? Have people already derestricted this specific ebike ?
@Fursovniko - good question, and one that needs a couple of things sorted before I can give you a straight answer.
The Reaction Hybrid ONE 800 runs a Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 (Smart System) with a rim magnet speed sensor.
That's a notably higher-spec motor than I initially expected for the "ONE" trim level - good to have that confirmed. The Smart System generation changes things compared to older Bosch setups, so it's important to know exactly what you're working with.
On the derestriction question generally:
For Bosch Smart System motors, the main options are: •
SpeedBox - the most popular hardware dongle. Fits in the space between motor casing and frame on most Bosch-equipped bikes. Whether there's sufficient clearance on the Reaction Hybrid's specific frame is the key question. Note that Smart System compatibility varies by SpeedBox model, so check the specific version.
•
Badass Box / Firefly - similar concept, slightly different form factor •
Rim magnet tuning - relevant here given the rim magnet setup on your bike
@TheKaiser's post is worth reading - he notes Bosch dealers can see evidence of tampering in service history, which is worth knowing before you proceed.

EDIT: Corrected the motor spec - the Reaction Hybrid ONE 800 uses a Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 with Smart System and rim magnet, not a non-CX Performance Line as originally stated. Thanks
@Fursovniko for the heads up.
