Is it just me or is the USA Specialized dealer awareness of EMTBs behind that of say the UK ? I'm basing this from my experience at three Specialized shops in Colorado, so might be different elsewhere. They didn't know about the gunk issues, they say the foam is not available from Specialized and have no idea of an replacement covers.

Your Colorado shops sounds like they may be out of touch on the Levos. When I picked up my 2019 and asked about the sponge at my LBS here in SoCal (Orange Cycles) @Al Boneta showed me that he had already installed it. He had a bag of sponges from Specialized ready to put in the bikes that came without them or to install in early customer's bikes as needed.

I added a small deflector made out of Helicopter tape to divert stuff coming off the back wheel. The combo seems to work. The pic below shows that the inside motor compartment remained clean after a ride that sprayed mud all over the seat tube and chain stay area (bike exterior was washed before photo).

Some Specialized dealers seem to have begrudgingly brought Levos into their showrooms.
And some of these haven’t paid much attention to the tech bulletins on the service site or the Turbo communication emails that are sent regularly.
Some shops just don’t get it and don’t seem to want to.

All the us shops I have been in do not carry levo's. Even the shop I purchased from in Michigan ordered it for me, I went to a few in Florida and they had zero and no plans to carry any. So answer to your question is a lot of the USA is way behind the times, and you can not use them on most of the mtb paths in the midwest

Wow, I hope things catch up soon. The Colorado county I live in (Boulder) is very restrictive of EMTBs, but the neighboring Jefferson county has opened all their trails to e-bikes.

Like anything, it depends on how many of anything a bike shop is selling, or planning to sell. Lots of Levos, and they're experts, a dusty one sitting in the back, and not so much. Outside of CA, it doesn't seem like there are lots of places to ride emtbs, legally at least. lol So, probably not selling a lot of them.
