Who/what/how are people insuring their ebikes with?
I've all my other bikes covered on my household policy (Hiscox) but none of them approach the value of my Orbea. Are their specialists or brokers, are they considered pedal cycles by insurers? Household or standalone policies?
I'm guessing this is going to hurt....

My insurance is with my home insurance (Swinton), covered to 8K value with all upgrades listed and some future upgrades included

I have eight bikes, they’re all covered on my home insurance. When I told the agent the price of each bike he did a double take, then did the typical “push bikes cost that much?! I thought you were talking about motor bikes” response🤣😂

Pedalcover.co.uk - specialist brokers for home insurance that properly covers bikes. They were superb when I had a targeted break-in. Paid out more than £15k on the bikes with absolutely zero hassle. 100% would recommend.

p.s. cover was only about £50 more than just standard household cover quotes we got, so not even expensive (your mileage may vary of course).

Pedalcover here too
The house insurance and bike insurance is the same policy
They use Directline for the home insurance and with 2 bikes covered everywhere it was 100 pounds more than my directline direct quote home insurance policy.

Just renewed my policy with CyclePlan for £8600 worth of cover including personal injury, legal and 1m public liability.
Paying a total of £235.29 for the year.

My home insurance with NFU specifically covers my bikes as named items. No need for a cycle specific policy.

Both of my Scotts are on my house insurance, home & away with no extra charge.
For the life of me, I can't recall who I'm with. 🤔🤣

My bikes were covered with My LV home contents policy, they paid £13k when my bikes were stolen from my garage.

when I took out the policy I did not have to specify the bikes, despite the fact that exceeded the single item theft cover limit.

I queried this before I took out the policy and "got it in writing" just to make sure.

Zero fuss claim process, just had to provide receipts and police crime number.

For boring reasons that are fairly unlikely to apply to anyone else here, we're currently with NFU for home cover that includes my bikes.

NFU were really, really fussy about everything being specified, wanting photos, receipts, and serial numbers, and the policy costs about twice what Pedalcover did. We'll be going back to Pedalcover next year.

Must be variations between local NFU offices; mine couldn’t have been easier to deal with regarding my family’s bike collection.

Got an online quote - just a basic number not emailed to me or anything like that, of about £24/month. For a £5k Emtb.

I'm extra lazy these days and really should get his sorted out to be covered. Makes sense.

Zurich home insurance here.

Covers bikes and whatever else is in the (detached) garage. Anything worth over a certain amount (3.5k?) needs to be declared but had no impact on the policy price.

I was expecting to have to install certified locks on the doors and particular locks for bikes etc but when I enquired about security, there were no requirements to meet. Everything is covered. Even in the rickety old garden shed.

Bikes are covered away from home too.
