Meet up time tbc either 10.00am or 10.30am ( depending on who might be coming and the distance they have to travel ) .
So ..the route ..I will try to copy & paste what's been written on our whatsapp group page ..
Hello Lads & Lasses..just been talking to Wayne and we quite like the idea of a 3 Bretheren Route out of Innerleithen this Saturday ..
For those who haven't done it before it starts from the trail head car park at Inners ..follows the first half of the red route crossing over the Southeren Upland Way ( SUW) around Minch Moor and dropping you on to the SUW further along it's route ..this is where we turn right and follow the SUW ro meet the Minch Moor Road ( a grassy bracken enclosed skinny singletrack) which gives a fantastic drop of nearly 5km to Yarrowford ..short hop along the road to Broadmeadows ..where all the height you lost is given back on the long climb up to The Three Bretheren ..its almost vertical in places !.
From TTB ..we head back along the Southern Upland Way to the point where we joined it off Minch Moor this time turning right to join the Inners Red Route back to the start ..which being mainly downhill is a good way to end the ride ..
It's a cracking route and well worth the journey to get there ( if you can be arsed ) ..but I do appreciate its an awful long way for some ..
Which worked just fine ..so anyone else want to join us ?

From the 7 Stanes website the red route appears to still be closed

  • Most downhill trails are open – see below for details. The XC Trail remains closed, though Cadon Bank (the final descent to the car park) is back open.

Great ride ..write up & pics in the Pic of the Day section ( General Forum ) ..slightly different finish to the ride as we crossed over the Valley ( Alan's suggestion) and did the black route climb at Glentress and ended up coming past the Golfie into Innerleithen ..a great suggestion giving a very fast end to the ride 👍
