Hi, need to replace my aging kangoo, want to go full electric or hybrid, but there is next to nothing in the market in that shape of car. ID buzz is the top contender, mostly because I have seen a bunch of them seriously discounted second hand. I have a small EV car so I am already happy with the expected range etc. just wondering if anyone on this forum is running one with ebikes and how you place the bikes, any tips, warnings, regrets etc. have you tried camping in one with bikes is a biggie.

Cheers

Maybe you've read this already but some good info.
Your current EV experience will no doubt allow you to have an informed opinion about the range comments.

So for others interested:

A size L enduro ebike (128cm wheelbase) just fits in the boot with the seats up and pushed all the way forward. The hardest part of loading the bike into the boot is the height of the boot entrance, the bar tend to scratch the ceiling of the entrance really bad.

Not so easy to fit more than one adult bike with the wheels on, although no problem loading a smaller bike like a DJ bike and a few kids bikes.

Had the car a few months, I love it but be ready for barely 2hours of driving range on the motorway, but easily 4-5 hours of mountain road driving.

I was going with a VW ID Buzz , but at the time , just could not justify the price even though it is cool looking for sure , I was going for the Cargo , as it's just me as we have another car for my wife , But I decided to go with a 2024 /2025 Vauxhall Combo E life , electric XL, ultimate 200 mile range in summer , 150 -160 winter , I bought it for a stupid price brand new , discounted 19,900 , happy with it as a van but you can have the seat full down , I can get either my Whyte E160 or my Giant or Trek in with the front wheel on , but I use a fork mount , I may be tempted with the KIA PV5 , its seem better value then the VW Buzz

I've been in a hired one and we got three bikes in and three people .
Seem to think one was upside down and definitely front wheels off.

I've been keeping a eye on prices on ID Buzz lease loco.
Some cracking lease deals
I'd remove the rear seats and use as a van that I can sleep in now and again.
Then re fit seats at end of lease

Yeah I bought it for €36k, a 2023 with 15k km. Buying new is quite a ripoff on this model, but I might also take a big loss over time.

I’ve been looking at a cargo version, albeit with the cab rear window and lift up tailgate with window.

I’d also be going with the tow bar option for carrying the bikes. I’d be limited to 3 seats, but that’s fine for my bike trips and other hobby pursuits. With a removable kitchen/bed pod, it would make a good day van or weekend camper.

There’s also a long wheel base Buzz available, noticeably more roomy in the back for load carrying, but not as many deals around on those it would seem.

Yes I think the long wheelbase (only one available in the USA by the way) came out in 2024, so don't expect any second hand ones until next year at the earliest.

The good thing about the short wheelbase is that at 4m70 it fits in most European (read small) parking spots. Bad thing is that at 1m93 height there are a lot of parking lots in France that it can't go into, probably my biggest frustration.
