How to protect your speed sensor

In Vitus eSommet (most like many other bikes as well), the speed sensor cable is located in danger zone. Earlier this week during the ride, some tree branch went between the spokes hit the sensor cable and pulled the wires out from the sensor. Luckily it happened only 5km from the car and not on the Alps crossing ride.

To improve the reliability, I made few changes.
-stuffed the cable along the speed sensor and taped it around the sensor and also the chain stay
-removed the spacers between the chain stay and sensor housing (to get sensor closer to the chain stay and farther from spokes)
-rotated the the sensor 180 degrees to (maybe not needed, but could be safer when sensor is farther from the rim)

I will later add some gorilla tape around the sensor and chain stay to make it even safer. But already after these changes, if branch of rock hits the sensor, it would just rotate around, but it should not pull the wires out.

When I got mine I tidied up the cable, can't recall exactly what I did and bike not infont of me, but pretty sure I minimised the slack and then used one zip tie utilising the clamping point for the brake cable where it comes out the rear of the main triangle, and one on the chain stay.

What that sensor needs is a Badass Box 4

I use this tape as it is tougher and effectively becomes a wrap as it vulcanises to itself, bombproof for chain stays.
