How good are lyrik ultimate compared to fox factory 36 grip2?

In what way Gary?
Part of the reason for the newer air spring was to address the fork sagging into its travel under its own weight complaint from some owners of previous years forks. Because of this sag markings on the stanchion will not be directly comparable percentage wise to the older spring. The air spring curve has also changed and all of these differences need taken into account when setting up the fork.
Loads of folk won't though and therefore will be running way too much sag and complaining about their fork now blowing through its travel or diving.

I noticed about 10% sag just from weight of the front end of the bike.

I'm running a 170 mm Fox 36 e-bike Factory with Grip 2 on my eeeb, and a 170 mm Lyric with the Ultimate damper and a coil conversion on my Specialised Enduro. Both 2020. Both set up by Fin at Full Factory. Honestly, I don't think there is very much in it? The Lyrik is probably a bit plusher, but it's coiled, and I had no end of problems with it for the first 6 months I had it; it came with a faulty damper and a faulty air spring. I wouldn't be unhappy with either of them as they stand now.

I've taken the last token out today and pumped it to 120psi, which is about 25psi more than recommended by the sram app. Might not have chance to test properly until later next week, unless I get out on Sunday. I've swam nearly 3 miles the last two days, and my shoulders are stiff. See how I feel in 48hrs.

As a female, I am always so surprised by the mount of 'don't tell my wife' / 'my wife won't let me' / 'my wife doesn't get it' / and so on on bike forums. Even if it may be used as a joke it comes off a bit... odd, maybe somewhat disrespectful?

Nah, I just use the 'wife excuse' to try and hide the fact that I'm as tight as a.... (I'd better stop typing in case the wife sees it) ;-)

Bear in mind that it's quite possible that your shock pump is not calibrated. I have two pumps that differ by about 20%. As long as they are consistent then you can simply set using sag and note the value.

The "wife" excuse is used for a lot of odd reasons. Rarely genuine.
I have a friend who also uses it all the time. Him and his wife are very financially stable and her hobby being horses (expensive) means she is is incredibly supportive of his hobby and has always encouraged him to spend whatever he wants on whatever he fancies. And to get out biking as much as he wants. But he's not the most alpha or blokey guy so uses the "must ask wifey" line all the time in regard to any aspect of his hobby just trying to keep in with the other blokes who use it. I've always found the whole thing rather gay TBH.

most often the case but I have had 2 mates that have wives that will give them such endless shit for spending money without approval that it makes whatever the purchase is not worth it. as a tradesman I know a few guys that even have to pass their tool purchases past the other half. it makes me pretty sad when I see it but I like to assume that the trade off is worth it ;)

For anyone interested, I've continued to play around with my Lyrik setup. Sweet spot for me seems to be no tokens, 105psi, 5 clicks of LSC and 2 clicks of HSC. Good ground feedback as well as a fork that is quite well propped up.

and p.s... Don't tell the wife?

The 2020 fork is great, but it can be improved with the 2021 air spring upgrade, very simple job to do and will resolve the static sag issue and add more support.

I prefer my 2021 Lyrik ultimates compared to my fox 36 factory grip 2, the small bump compliance is noticeably better IMO

Both are great forks and neither is better than the other. They behave a bit different and depending on the trail or your taste the balance is going to RS or Fox.

I wasn't aware similar sex couples used the " wife" phrase for post purchase patheticism. Is there any consistency in who the " wife" is - eg is it a dominant / non dominant thing?

@smear - is the use of " wife" in a gay perspective more or less offensive if they are referring to a dominant partner?

No. @Pdoz I meant I find the whole culture of trying so hard to fit in with your (same sex) peers that you have to dis the one person you took vows and made a legally bonding connection to be with for your whole life. Rather gay.

m'kay?

I don't actually "get" marriage anyway. But that's a whole other discussion.

Don't hassle smeer with your obtuse nonsense either. She was 100% right in speaking up in the first place.

One is a LOT better on your bank balance though ;)

And there’s the price, and that’s not a point you can ignore. For the price a Fox you can get a Lyric and some top of the range rear shock or coil ... even from Fox! ?

Since FS bikes relies on two suspension points not matter how good is the front if the rear is crap and mainly all are crap unless you buy top of the range. See myself, I like more how ride Fox, but my bike is RS and I’m absolutely happy.

Hmmmmm APAC makes a good point, you can sell future ex bike shiz to fund new bike shiz.......hmmmmm I’ve a fox 35 and no idea of a new fork will add any benefits, ignorance is also bliss at times! I did recently start to do a drop a down at leeds urban (not the bigger one) and I had a bash with setting the front forks up, I set the psi to 104 and then settled at around 94 (ish) but the landings were horrible rebound wise. I then set back 6 clicks from turtle and it was lovely after that! Previously I was on around 70 I think but with about 10 clicks. Interesting how these settings are quite dramatic to the point were it can make you feel a better or worse rider

I’ve noticed the advanced apes around here used the ‘my’ wife instead of using the T WORD omg (‘the’)...... mines (not mine I don’t own, my....erm) a nearly a wife (I mean myself and my partner are nearly married)...

truth be told, I have been guilty of using ‘the firewall’ comment at times however, but just for the neanderthal level humour us blokes relish but then she ( not she, I mean my partner ) would be more concerned one day if suddenly stopped passionately spending money on fads (luckily mtb seems to be bucking the trend)

ps I think it’s gayer calling weak men ‘gay’ even if there pretending to be this way for banter but at least it’s way less offensive than labelling our other better halves ofc ? (the term and use of ‘gayer’ is excempt from causing any offence I do believe!)
