Higo opener or closer

Hey everyone.
I’m hoping someone may be able to help me out with a brake question.
I’m looking to upgrade the brakes on my stereo 140 to some 4 pots as the standard brakes are struggling to slow me down.
I’d like to get the Magura MT5e brake but this year models come with an option of higo opener or higo closer.
I think this is something to do with brake light connections but it’s pretty confusing for a dullard like me.
So, which do I need, open or closed or does it not matter?
Thanks in advance

It depends on whether or not you can integrate the brake system into the control of your motor.
These brakes are designed to cut power from the motor on activation so they have a switch to do just that. The switch configuration depends on this integration. There are two switch states available, N/O and N/C. How your software works will depend on which one you need.
In my opinion this seems pretty unnecessary as you stop peddling when you hit the brakes.

Do you have the facilities to code them into your software? Unlikely.

Just buy a standard MT5. In my experience, plenty good enough for a decent one finger stoppie.

That’s great info, thanks.
Don’t think I need all that nonsense for an e bike. Sounds like it’s more for these electric scooter things.
