Hi from Ireland, just bought my first eMTB. I’m in my 50’s and the extra push up the trails will be welcome, I started out with bmx in the 80’s and MTB’s since the early naughties. I still have to learn to jump, been viewing loads of vids on YouTube but any tips are welcome. My ride is an Orbea Wild H30, I’m 5’9 and 105kg 😬

I like to run a couple clicks slower on rear shock rebound for jumping. It gives a little more control and doesn't kick up the rear end so bad on steeper jump faces. Avoid gap jumps. Find easy table top style jumps and get a lot of reps on small tables with various jump faces to learn how they throw the bike. Don't be a passenger. Press the suspension down so it starts coming back up right as the tires leave the ground.

Throwing in a little bit of a bar turn while staying loose avoids the dead sailor feeling also.

Welcome!
I also started BMX in the 80's, MTB in the 90's and am still hopeless at jumps. I have a feeling it's the 80's BMX style of riding that's to blame - keeping it low over the tables and whoops to win races...
eMTB is an absolute revelation - get the climbs out of the way, or turn them into a sport of their own. Then bomb the downhills!
Joy of Bike has some good videos on jumping over 40. They almost helped me...but then I realised I love jump lines, but don't really like being booted to the moon, so I stick with what I know.

Thanks for the tips, keeping these in mind
