Recently (December 2020) I got infected by the EMTB virus by having a test ride on a Kenovo and Levo Turbo on the local MTB trails in holland. From that time, I wanted an EMTB as well. So, I started reading tons of reviews, watched videos and asked my friend a lot of questions. I want to spend 6 to 7K and the journey to a search for a new bike begun.
At first I wanted to have a Specialized Levo turbo, as I test ride it. It was a great bike on the trial and according to internet they are quite popular/good and Specialized has good service. The only thing about Specialized is the pricing. For 7K I can buy a new Turbo levo comp or demo model Turbo levo expert.
I was pointed out to look at the direct to consumer brands as well, so I did. I got in love with the YT Decoy Elite due the incredible components, carbon frame/rims and badass looks and pricing. To me the only downside is the 540 Wh battery and the Shimano E8000. As the new EP8 was coming to other brands, I looked further than YT. Commencal with EP8 and 630Wh batt came up in my radar. Reason for Shimano is the clean cockpit view. I am not a fan of bulky computers on the handlebar.
Reading and viewing reviews of the upcoming EP8 scared me at first due the rattle noise. (I cannot handle a lot of annoying noises :s) But some newer reviews (e.g. Sams bike Commencal meta power SX) proved the noise is not that present for that bike.
The Commencal meta power SX was the new perfect bike to me, good components, nice looking and good pricing. Only downside is the delivery date, June. I accepted this due this looks the perfect bike to me (Fox 38, float X2, EP8 etc etc) and made an order for the Commencal meta power SX signature.
One week of thinking and being complete honest to myself about the specs on the Meta power SX, I cancelled the order! Do I need all these components here in Holland? There are no mountains so why do I need a downhill oriented bike with 180mm fork?
I changed the order to the Commencal meta power TR Signature. That bike looks perfect to ride here in Holland and being capable in mountains as well. Cannot wait till it arrives!
