@Stihldog Google says that the "Crussis e largo 9.7" was first announced in 2022. @Jonmanne hails from Fuerteventura which is a Canary island about 100km long, so in 3 years must have travelled the equivalent of the length of Fuerteventura about 500 times.

i do at least 60 kms every day, the most i have done is 110 kms, it takes me 16 or 17 days to do 1000kms, i have taken 55 photos of my display, every time i complete 1000kms i take photo, i can post them here if you want.
We do go away for a weekend break at least once a month or i would have done more.

Isn't it the motor that holds the information, not the display?

Otherwise the motor manufacturer wouldn't know how many miles/kms it had done when you send it in. Doesn't the display just query the motor?

Also stops people from mis-representing how many miles/kms the motor has completed when selling.

My original control panel malfunctioned so I had to buy a new display/control panel assembly, this obviously had an odometer reading of zero, there is no way to alter the odometer reading without Bafangs BESST software and a license that is only issued to authorised dealers i am lead to believe.

That makes sense to me. If that isn't how it works, then it ought to do so.

I believe that's how Shimano works. I might be wrong...

I’m not exactly sure how it works but the local Bike Shop can determine the true mileage on the motor. I can’t recall what happened to my mileage data when I installed a new Kiox. Maybe it started at zero. Lost history that I may never get back.

My Kiox says 11,00+ kms but I’m sure it’s much more than that.

It will be as bad as when you had to assume that all second-hand cars had been "clocked", ie the odometer had been wound back, or a new one fitted, or a used one with lower mileage. Now all MOTs show the mileage, in an attempt to counter the practice of clocking.

Vehicle odometers ought to be updated by the EMS.

I recommend to get a data printout before you buy a used EMTB. Most local Bike Shops can provide this. The info about the motor and battery is important. (at least for Bosch motors). Motor mileage, battery cycles, service intervals etc.
