I normally road bike but used to mountain bike when I was a kid. I also love tech and had been intrigued by EMTBs and had been looking at bike porn about them online for while, but had never got around to riding any ebike. Then I came across a huge price drop online for a brand new (but last season) Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay late last year. That gave me the spur I needed to buy it sight unseen as a bit of the punt but in the knowledge that used ones of the same spec were on offer on eBay at higher prices. I didn't end up riding it in anger till quite recently... and absolutely loved it. Sadly it got stolen recently and I don't want to ride any MTB other than an electric one. I can't find any Rocky Altitude PPs for sale that are my size so am looking at other options. Hoping to pick the brains of you guys on what to get next and maybe find some other EMTB riders around London (England, not Canada) to hit the trails with some time.

Sorry to hear your bike got stolen, hope you find another one soon. What is your budget and is there anything in particular you're looking for in your new bike?

That's a PITA when someone feels the need to help themselves to your hard earned toy! Hope the insurance process kicks in and you are soon back riding a new e-mtb.

Yeah, it was definitely a bad day when my bikes got stolen and it was especially worrying as my bikes were specifically targeted. I normally keep my bikes in my flat but the lift broke and my RM is too big to carry up the stairs without some gymnastics so I put them in our building's bike storage area whilst the lift was broken. Someone got into the building and cut the chain with what must have been a massive bolt cutter and stole my two bikes; the RM Altitude PP and a titanium road bike. Nobody else's bikes were touched and I had by far the heaviest duty lock. Suspiciously, the CCTV wasn't working and the neither was the entrance lock for our building on the day the got stolen. Reported it to the police but they closed the case almost immediately.

As for a new bike.... seriously drawn to the YT Decoy right now but had been looking at the new Kenevo too. When I did mtb I was always more interested in going downhill and am looking for the same with emtbiking. Have to admit I was shocked at how much fun the Rocky could make going uphill though!

Man, that sucks you would think in your building they would be secure. I'm at the investigation phase for buying an e bike. I used to have a Rocky Mountain Altitude Acoustic back in the day. There are not many RM suppliers in NZ so spare parts could possibly be a problem here. I have read a lot about the uphill being almost as much fun as the downhill!
