Good time to buy an eMTB or wait it out?

Hey All,

I’m the market to purchase my first ever eMTB.

Is it a good time to buy one right now or should I wait it out till mid year etc? All my riding buddies have now upgraded to an eMTB

I only ask because I’ve been told by several bike shops around AUS that a few “27” models of bikes are in the works and will be arriving around June etc

Cheers

Amflow, SC Vala's and Norco Range

There are so many good bikes out there already, but any Bosch or Avinox bike would be a match for them, maybe ask the Amflow guys to slow down a bit?! 😉

There should be some cheaper Avinox bikes out next year, so maybe wait if you want one of those, not massive discounts on the Amflow yet from what I’m seeing.

haha I'll try that next time!

So i've narrowed down my choices to a Levo 4 Expert and SC Bullit. LBS is giving me a pretty good discount on both bikes. The Bullit a little hard to get at the moment in AUS  and all the rep's have no idea on dates etc.

Levo in stock ready to go. First eMTB purchase so a lot of "ifs" "buts" etc etc 😬

If I didn’t already have an eMTB, I wouldn’t wait for the next big thing. I’d buy a current model at a good discount.

That’s exactly what I did four years ago when I went for a Gen 3 Levo, even though I was never really a fan of the brand.

At the time, they offered good discount and what looked like the best warranty and support. In reality, that didn’t turn out to be as good as expected in my case and location (Europe). Still, I really enjoy the bike. At this point, only the frame, motor, and battery are original, but that only reinforces that I made the right choice by not waiting for some newer, more powerful bike that might have come later.

Now again I’m looking at a new eMTB, but honestly, I can’t find anything that truly blows me away or rides noticeably better than my heavily upgraded Levo.

Carpe diem!

I lusted over the TQ powered Trek EX-E and Mondraker Neat SL's when they came to market a few years ago. But the $10+ price tags cooled my jets quick. Fast forward to December '25 and I bought a Neat for under $5k, landed.
Moral....there will always be the latest and greatest coming soon that keeps people on the decision sideline. Buy a heavily discounted, well sorted, previous years ebike and don't look back. Just enjoy.

They’re all plenty good now man. I wouldn’t wait. One thing to consider with all the new bikes coming out, the used market might be worth checking out. Find a realllly good deal there to buy you some time to find out what you want in an e-bike and can resell and get the dream bike next time.

It really depends on the budget. To me spending 8-10k at the moment is unworthy, the period is not great, prices will drop a lot.

I would buy a cheap one and store as much money as possible to get my hand on the upcoming belt motor. Pinion last year was cool but not cool enough for me, too heavy, too noisy.

Is it a good time to buy one right now

It depends. Some would say that the best time is when the newest models come out and you pay full price and get the best bike available. Others would say that it's best to wait until the new models come out and all the old models area available at discount prices.

One thing's for sure: your buddies on their new eMTB's are going to be kicking your àřšė, and you're going to be dying at the back of the pack. You might as well throw down the cash right now and fully enjoy the next six months until the new bikes come out.
