Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.
Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

If you had the bike from new that's 1,200 miles in the ~8 years since 2017/2018 which is about 150 miles a year.Hello all I'm looking for the best way to unlock the limiter on my giant talon e 2017 I'm in the UK and the 15.5 mph limit is driving me insane. After 1200 miles on it I would like to get a bit more speed as I use it for my commute to work
Are you commuting on public roads, bridleways, designated cycle routes, or whatever?I've had it since April last year
I don't know about the best, but some people opt for PLANET3 and they're happy with the compromise. I say compromise because on Giant e-bikes the ratio limits the speed increase to 50% (1.5:1 ratio) because of safety concerns that came with Giant's 2023 firmware update and the dreaded 6A error, but it's also not a pulling-teeth experience of trying to fit a chip with all new connectors under the motor and having panic attacks in the middle of the process.Hello all I'm looking for the best way to unlock the limiter on my giant talon e 2017 I'm in the UK and the 15.5 mph limit is driving me insane.
