I bought this bike new in 2022 and have had nothing but issues with it. It's been back to Giant twice now, the first time they had it for close to six months, and it still has intermittent issues with the motor cutting out. It has less than 1000km on it and I don't even want to ride it anymore because of all the issues I've had. I can't rely on it in a race that's for sure.

Has anyone else had similar experience and what was your ultimate outcome?

I just want to sell the thing and buy a different brand but my husband reckons Giant should come to the party and trade it on a new one.

I am very sorry to hear that you have problems and I absolutely understand you not wanting to ride it anymore.

I have the exact same bike (Reign E+2 2022) which has been faultless for 5,000 km now. I think Giant and the dealer should be pressured to come up with something... Easier said than done but still, this is not normal by any stretch. My two cents.

i have about 2K miles on mine, no motor or battery issues at all. I had a speed sensor error where magnet came dislodged and I superglued it back on 2 years ago. Bummer about your issues, hopefully Giant steps up

I've had a new 2023 reign e+3 since Feb 3 2024. Now has 4659 Km (2900 miles). No problems on the electrics for this bike. I USE A garmin 830 or garmin 840 for a display. Never threw an error at all.
My first ebike had a lot of problems due to defective shimano 7000 series motors.
2 were replaced in short order
I have one now wot 11500 Km and a spare with 6600 Km.

It is hard to diagnose problems on Giant ebike without proper testing equipment and of course without skilled personnel.
I feel that you are dealing with a bit of both.
I would be constantly on them to replace all defective parts immediately or refund your money.
Giant Sync drive pro 2 motor seems to me to be a pretty solid choice for a motor system but I would say quality issue creep into the manufacturing process.

Hopefully you get this sorted out soon.

I had a 2022 Reign E+2 and now a 2024 Reign E+1 and not a single issue with both of them.

Yamaha motors are pretty reliable, but shit happens.

A friend had the exact same issue as you and Giant had to replace the motor, it was replaced within a week.

I have a Trance +2 2022. I had the motor cutting out issue. Mate with an identical bike had the same problem. Solved by replacing the battery. Other issues were a dropper post rotating about 15degrees, replaced under warranty. My LBS is a Giant main agent so I guess they have a good relationship with Giant for sorting warranty claims…

I have had a Stance EMTB and now a Trance EMTB and both have been nearly flawless. The few minor issues I had were fixed within days by my LBS (A Giant authorized dealer) all under warranty. I would look to another LBS that specializes in Giant bikes and see what they can do. Sounds like your LBS doesn't want to deal with the issue. Of course this is in the USA, don't know if that makes a difference or not with warranty laws.

I've had a new 2023 reign e+3 since early April 2023. It did require a motor replacement a year later in 2024. The replacement was done in less than a week after diagnosis.
There is a thread on here somewhere that documents my and others issues with '22 and '23 reign e+ motor cutting off mid-ride.
I think the bike rides amazing, the motor has been rock solid since the replacement, i just wish it was 10 lbs lighter!

It's one of the lightest e mtb's out there, why by an ebike if weights the issue.

🤣
My '23 Reign e+ ...It weighs 59lbs with air suspension and a burly build
My '21 Trek Rail with a burly build and a coil shock is 53.5lbs
A couple riding buds have beefy built 55lb Pivot Shuttles.
From my experience a modern enduro ebike over 57lbs is on the porky side of the weight equation.
...I affectionately refer to the reign as "Sow Belly", and that plump little piggy is always a good time 😁

My bike is having issues issue with fully charging (again). It did this a while back where it would not fully charge without me unplugging the charger and restarting the cycle it would not go past 80%. Finally an update fixed the issues. well it’s doing it again and I looked and it says that max battery capacity is 80%. Does that mean there’s something wrong with my battery or is it just saying that because that’s what the current charge level is? It’s very frustrating that this issue is happening again. Twice in a row now it has done this and it causes me to not be able to do the ride that I want to do.

mine was taking forever to charge to 100 from 80 so I pulled battery and charged it off the bike and while battery was out pushed the on off button holding it for a couple seconds on suggestion from another forum to discharge the left over in the system seemed to have worked. I went for 42 to 84 in 1 hour 15 minutes

the 80% is where the charge is at currently try charging off the bike,
